OBJECTIVE: To study the efficacy and safety of sorafenib combined with low dose cytarabine for treating patients with FLT3(+) relapsed and refractory acute myeloid leukemia (FLT3(+) RR-AML). METHODS: Seven patients with FLT3(+) RR-AML were treated with sorafenib and low dose cytarabine. The curative rate and adverse effects were observed in these patients. RESULTS: Out of 7 RR-AML patients after treatment, 5 patients achieved complete remission (CR), 2 patients achieved partial remission (PR), and the overall response rate (ORR) after one course of therapy was 100%...

Etomidate is a widely used hypnotic drug for induction of general anesthesia and sedation, especially in elderly patients and hemodynamically unstable patients. Myoclonus, however, is the most prominent problem during induction of anesthesia with etomidate. Many agents have been used to prevent it and opioid is one of them. This meta-analysis was to evaluate effects of opioids pretreatment for preventing etomidate-induced myoclonus. We searched the PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases and published studies in English updated to September 2015...

Selective and sensitive glucose sensors with fast response for screening diabetic blood level are demanded. In this paper, the one-pot nanoarchitecture of dendritic NiO@carbon-nitrogen (C-N) dots (designated as NCD) sphere-wrapping Ni foam electrodes are reported as an effective and sensitive glucose sensor in blood samples. In this construction design, the NCD sphere electrode with excessive surface defects, large fractions of catalytic active sites, high surface area, and mobility of electron transfer through the actively surface NCD sphere can massively enhance the electrocatalytic activity for nonenzymatic glucose detection in diabetic blood...

BACKGROUND: Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world. The aim of our study was to evaluate and compare renal functional and structural integrity in 50 infants with IDA and 50 healthy controls and to assess the relation between IDA and oxidative stress and response to iron therapy. METHODS: This was a prospective study in which peripheral blood samples were collected from all study subjects and the following laboratory investigations performed: serum iron profile, urinary microalbumin, urinary leucine aminopeptidase (LAP), fractional excretion of sodium (FeNa), serum total antioxidant capacity (TAC), serum malondialdehyde (MDA), serum and urinary trace elements (iron, copper, zinc, calcium and magnesium)...

Our purpose is to completely elimination of xenograft tumor in animal tumor model in order to work out a protocal for the cure of patient. Gene therapy and viral therapy for cancer have got some therapeutic effects, but both have no great breakthrough. Therefore, we worked out a new strategy called Targeting Gene-Virotherapy of Cancer which is a combination of the advantage of gene therapy and virotherapy. This new strategy has stronger antitumor effect than either of them alone. A tumor specific replicative adenovirus vector ZD55 (E1B 55KD deleted Adv...
