MoS2 -based materials have emerged as photoelectric semiconductors characterized by a narrow band gap, high capacity for absorbing visible light, and reduced H2 adsorption energy comparable to Pt. These attributes render them appealing for application in photocatalytic hydrogen production. Despite these advantages, the widespread adoption of MoS2 -based materials remains hindered by challenges associated with limited exposure to active sites and suboptimal catalytic hydrogen production efficiency. To address these issues, we have designed and synthesized a new class of highly dispersed bimetallic/trimetallic sulfide materials...

Reducing the accumulation of cadmium (Cd) and mitigating its toxicity are pivotal strategies for addressing Cd pollution's threats to agriculture and human health. Hydrogen sulfide (H2 S) serves as a signaling molecule, playing a crucial role in plant stress defense mechanisms. Nevertheless, a comprehensive assessment of the impact of exogenous H2 S on plant growth, antioxidant properties, and gene expression under Cd stress remains lacking. In this meta-analysis, we synthesized 575 observations from 27 articles, revealing that exogenous H2 S significantly alleviates Cd-induced growth inhibition in plants...

Leaf senescence is the terminal stage of leaf development, and its initiation and progression are closely controlled by the integration of a myriad of endogenous signals and environmental stimuli. It has been documented that WRKY transcription factors (TFs) play essential roles in regulating leaf senescence, yet the molecular mechanism of WRKY-mediated leaf senescence still lacks detailed elucidation in crop plants. In this study, we cloned and identified a tobacco WRKY TF gene, designated NtWRKY70b , acting as a positive regulator of natural leaf senescence...

Sulfide stress cracking (SSC) failure is a main concern for the pressure vessel steel Q345 used in harsh sour oil and gas environments containing hydrogen sulfide (H2 S). Methods used to improve the strength of steel usually decrease their SSC resistance. In this work, a quenching and tempering (Q&T) processing method is proposed to provide higher strength combined with better SSC resistance for hot-rolled Q345 pressure vessel steel. Compared to the initial hot-rolled plates having a yield strength (YS) of ~372 MPa, the Q&T counterparts had a YS of ~463 MPa, achieving a remarkable improvement in the strength level...

This research centers on the development and synthesis of a longwave fluorescence probe, labeled as 60T , designed for the simultaneous detection of hydrogen sulfide, cysteine/homocysteine, and glutathione. The probe showcases a swift response, good linearity range, and heightened sensitivity, boasting that the detection limits of the probe for Cys, Hcy, GSH and H2 S were 0.140, 0.202, 0.259 and 0.396 μM, respectively. Notably, its efficacy in monitoring thiol status changes in live MCF-7 cells is underscored by a substantial decrease in fluorescence intensity upon exposure to the thiol trapping reagent, N-ethyl maleimide (NEM)...

Sulfidated zero valent iron (ZVI) is a popular material for the reductive degradation of halogenated organic pollutants. Simple and economic synthesis of this material is highly demanded. In this study, sulfidated micro/nanostructured ZVI (MNZVI) particles were prepared by simply heating MNZVI particles and sulfur elements (S0 ) in pure water (50℃). The iron oxides on the surface of MNZVI particles were conducive to sulfidation reaction, indicating the formation of iron-sulphide minerals (FeSx ) on the surface of MNZVI particles might not be from the direct reaction of Fe0 with S0 (Fe0 and S0 acted as reductant and oxidant, respectively)...

Hydrogen sulfide (H2 S) is one of the sewer gases commonly found in wastewater collection systems. This anaerobic degradation product causes issues, ranging from odor nuisances and health hazards to pipe corrosion. Several studies have provided an understanding of H2 S formation mechanism, including simulations of H2 S emissions in sewers, especially in pressurized systems. However, the present models necessitate a large amount of data due to the complexity of the H2 S processes and common routine-monitoring water quality parameters may not fit the requirements...

Hydrogen sulfide (H2 S), as a biomarker signaling gas, is not only susceptible to food spoilage, but also plays a key function in many biological processes. In this work, an activated near infrared (NIR) H2 S fluorescent probe was designed and synthesized with quinoline-conjugated Rhodols dye as fluorophore skeleton and a dinitrophenyl group as the responsive moiety. Due to the quenching effect of dinitrophenyl group and the closed-loop structure of Rhodols fluorophore, probe itself has a very weak absorption and fluorescence background signal...

Herein, by employing a bottom-up synthesis strategy, rhombic lamellar heterometallic CoNi-MOFs with varying thicknesses are constructed. This is achieved by using 4-methylpyridine as a capping agent based on the (4,6)-linked Co2 (azpy)2 (bptc) (azpy = 4,4'-azopyridine, bptc = 3,3',5,5'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid) structure with a fsc topology and by introducing Ni species simultaneously...

This compound is known for its potential to adversely impact plant growth and agricultural yield.
