INTRODUCTION: Ano-rectal melanoma is an uncommon finding in patients complaining of rectal bleeding and/or anal mass often misinterpreted as a haemorroidal pile. CASE REPORT: A 55-years-old woman, complaining of rectal bleeding, frequent anal pain and anal mass suspected for haemorroidal thrombosis was referred for evaluation and possible treatment. A brown polypoid mass arising from the anal canal/lower rectum with a maximum diameter of 6 cm was diagnosed. The hystological examination of the neoplasm, transanally removed, revealed the presence of a polypoid melanoma partially involving the resection margin...

The subject of this study is methods and results of treatment of 21 cases of lip cancer between 2007 and 2012, which included 15 men and 6 women, aged 48-63. In 18 cases it was squamous cell carcinoma, in other 3 basocellulare carcinoma. Of the hospitalized patients the following clinical stages were found: T1 - five, T2 - five, T3 - seven, T4 - four. We operated with several techniques, we performed: V-incision and surgery according to the Webster - one patient, Rutkowski - four, Estlander - four, Karpandzic - three; in the treatment of cancer of upper lip the frontal flap was used...

The development of sentinel lymph nodes biopsy rouses a newer interest to internal mammary lymph nodes region. We report a case of internal mammary sentinel lymph nodes biopsy of a woman with breast cancer leaded to stage migration. A 71 years old woman with upper medial quadrant left breast cancer is reported. The tumor is 2.5 cm in size. Marking of SLN with radionuclide (Tc99m) and with 2 dyes (Patent blue V and Indocyanin green) are done. Only internal mammary lymph node is established with lymphoscintigrapgy...

Insulin like-growth factor I (IGF-I) has been involved in the pathogenesis of a variety of human neoplasia due to the mitogenic and anti-apoptotic properties of its cognate receptor. In human thyroid carcinomas, we have previously documented an increased immunoreactivity of both IGF-I and the IGF-I receptor (IGF-I R) associated with up regulation of IGF-I mRNA . Immunoreactivity of IGF-I and cognate receptor positively correlated with tumor diameter and wide intrathyroidal extension but not with patient's gender and age or with the stage of the tumors and the occurrence of limph node metastases...

The semi-deep radiotherapy, performed by high-kilovoltage technique, fills a gap between superficial and megavolttherapy, as it renders possible an irradiation in focal depth of 2--4 cm, while largely preserving the deep underlying tissue. Besides which, every form of radiotherapy can be used, as under conventinal conditions. A further advantage exists in the markedly greater skin tolerance and in the low bone absorption of high-kilovoltage radiation, so that much higher focal doses can be achieved. This means that--in superficial processes--the high-voltage technique can replace the much more expensive therapy with accelerated electrons...
