INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to measure the wear progress of three high performance polymers (HPP) materials as well as that of zirconia after artificial aging (simulated 2.5- and 5-year of clinical service with thermo-mechanical loading) and compare it with the well-documented wear of lithium disilicate. METHODS: Forty implants were used to restore a maxillary first premolar, where the abutment and the crown were manufactured as hybrid-abutment-crown and connected to the implant using a titanium insert...

The application of flexible indium tin oxide (ITO-free) electrochromic devices has steadily attracted widespread attention in wearable devices. Recently, silver nanowire/poly(dimethylsiloxane) (AgNW/PDMS)-based stretchable conductive films have raised great interest as ITO-free substrate for flexible electrochromic devices. However, it is still difficult to achieve high transparency with low resistance due to the weak binding force between AgNW and PDMS with low surface energy because of the possibility of detaching and sliding occurring at the interface...

BACKGROUND: To report our experiences of a tape-releasing suture with "long-loop" in women with iatrogenic urethral obstruction following the mid-urethral sling procedure. METHODS: A total of 149 women underwent a tape-releasing suture with "Long Loop" during the operation. Post-void residual volume was evaluated after Foley removal. Lower urinary tract symptoms and urodynamic studies were assessed before and six months postoperatively. RESULTS: Nine women out of 149 who underwent mid-urethral sling surgery were found to have iatrogenic urethral obstruction post-operatively based on their urinary symptoms and ultrasound findings...

METHODS: We conducted an open-label randomized controlled trial that included women with SUI. Eligible women were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either standard TOT or SIMS techniques. All procedures were performed using a surgeon-tailored polypropylene mesh and monofilament tape...

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of build orientation of 3D-printed provisional resins (3DRs) on gloss (Gs), surface roughness (Sa), maximum profile valley depth (Rv), and color difference (∆E00 ). METHODS: PMMA CAD/CAM blocks (Vita Temp/Vita) were sectioned and served as a Control. Photoreactive pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) were prepared by grafting mono- or difunctional photoreactive monomers onto acrylic PSA, and their adhesion properties were evaluated before and after ultraviolet (UV) curing for application as dicing tape. In this study, the NCO-terminated difunctional photoreactive monomer (NDPM) was newly synthesized and compared with 2-acryloxyloxyethyl isocyanate (AOI), a monofunctional monomer. The 180° peel strengths of pristine and photoreactive PSAs were similar before UV curing (1850-2030 gf/25 mm)...

The results were compared with outcomes of sling performed as an alone surgery. Risk factors for TOT failure were also identified. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study comprised 219 patients with sling alone (Group SUI) and 221 after TOT combined with concomitant prolapse surgery (Group POP/SUI). This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety 10 years after surgery and compare the two main surgical techniques used. METHODS: Women who underwent surgery with a MUS between 2006 and 2010 were identified using the Swedish National Quality Register of Gynecological Surgery and were invited 10 years after the operation to answer questionnaires regarding urinary incontinence and its impact on quality-of-life parameters (UDI-6, IIQ-7) and impression of improvement, as well as questions regarding possible sling-related complications and reoperation...

Background and objectives : Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the most common type of urinary incontinence, affecting approximately 46% of adult women. After failure of conservative treatment, the mid-urethral sling (MUS) is considered the most effective and safe surgical procedure for SUI. In 2012, Waltregny et al. introduced a new trans-obturator tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) procedure, named TVT-abbrevo (TVT-A). The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the TVT-A procedure in women with pure SUI at 5-year follow-up...

Background: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) could be due to urethral hypermobility due to the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles which support the urethra and bladder or the intrinsic sphincter deficiency. The mid-urethral tape acts as an anchored pubo-urethral neo-ligament thus increasing the level of mid-urethral support. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of transobturator tape (TOT) for SUI at 5 years of follow-up. AIMS AND METHODS: To find a simpler cure for stress urinary incontinence (SUI) without tapes. Proposed is a paraurethral operation with incisions in both sulci to plicate pubourethral ligaments (PUL) with thick polyester sutures. RESULTS: VIDEO and ultrasound experiments showed the main cause of SUI was weak PULs extending on effort, allowing the posterior pelvic muscles to open out posterior urethral wall, so urine was lost on effort. Midurethral sling (MUS) tapes prevent PUL extension and SUI...

This paper presented an innovative method for fabrication of a porous Al2 O3 /CaAl12 O19 ceramic membrane by combining emulsion method, cement curing and tape-casting technologies. The ceramic membrane featured a smooth surface and a porous internal structure. By adjusting the oil-water volume ratio from 1:1 to 4:1, the porosity of the samples increases from 45.6 to 67.3%, density decreases from 2.07 to 1.32 g/cm3 and bending strength decreases from 64.3 ± 1.2 to 31.7 ± 0.6 MPa.
