The aim of this publication was estimation of osteomeatal complex and its visualisation by means of CT in children having been treated conservatively and surgically because of sinusitis. There were analyzed 47 children age 4 to 18 years who had been treated in Dept. of Children Otolaryngology, Phoniatry and Audiology of Medical University in Lublin during 2001-2005. Signs and symptoms obtained by clinical examination and endoscopic observations in consecutive subjects presenting at our Phoniatry and Logopedics Service from 1998 to 2003 for swallowing disorders were reviewed and evaluated statistically. The predictive power of these parameters is discussed in terms of short-term complications of dysphagia (aspiration). Epidemiological considerations are made based on a statistical model.

The origin of the world phoniatry has been presented in brief. Some aspects of the phoniatry in work of Jan H. Chróściejewski (lived about 1555--about 1627)-"Demorbis puerorum" were described. The life and professional career of Jakób Falkowski (1775-1848) are presented. Falkowski was a priest and teacher at Szczuczyn's school. He was a first who rehabilitated a deaf boy. With the help of an Analog to Digital Converter we are able to perform serial and statistical analysis in the time domain. The difficulty in those long-term period measurements consists in the correct extraction of the periodicity in human voice.
