INTRODUCTION: Although vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is a relatively common disease, in present there are different opinions regarding its approach by paediatric urologist, nephrologist and paediatrician. European Society for Paediatric Urology, European Association of Perinatal Medicine in collaboration with paediatric nephrologists developed--based on multicentric studies--a consensus approach for this disease. An efficient alternative is represented by endoscopic treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From January 2002 to December 2008 a number of 58 children, confirmed after mictional cistography with the diagnosis of VUR grade II - V, went endoscopic subureteral injection of dextranomer/ hyaluronic acid (Deflux)...

Syringocele is a cystic dilation of the excretory bulbourethral Cowper gland duct, and is a rather uncommon finding in pediatric age. It is frequently asymptomatic but sometimes may cause voiding symptoms and urinary tract infection (UTI). This case report describes an unusual manifestation of syringocele presenting with hydrocele. The case concerns a 2-year-old boy who was referred to our Clinic with a diagnosis of hydrocele. The patient underwent hydrocelectomy through a bilateral inguinal incision, but no clear communication with the patent peritoneal vaginal ducts could be demonstrated...

PURPOSE: Effectivety for endoscopic treatment for primary reflux has been under discussion as a single procedure. In the last 3 years our unit have been used Deflux, (dextranomer copolymer in hialuronic acid) for this pathology. The aim of this study is to analyze the results of our experience. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Since 2002, a prospective protocol for VUR has been applied. We reviewed the last 25 cases treated with Deflux per thousand injection who had ultrasound and cistography...

UNLABELLED: Urinary retention is uncommon in children and only one case has been described in literature with loperamide treatment. We report the occurrence of prolonged urinary retention in a 10-years-old girl after receiving oral loperamide for an acute gastroenteritis. The first episode of urinary retention lasted for 24 hours; radiological evaluation (Magnetic Resonance, cistography and renal ultrasound) did not find abnormality; it was necessary deplete bladder with catheterism. Previous to the gastroenteritis, diuresis has always been regular and she did not suffer for any neurological or urinary problems...

INTRODUCTION: Since the beginning of the application of the RVU treatment, the use of the ultrasound was used taking into account two main indications/symptoms: a) identification of the complications; b) assessment of the result (visualization of the implanted material and the presence of the "uretheral jet" by means or through/of ecodoppler-color). OBJECTIVE: To determine the value of the ultrasound in the assessment of the result of the endoscopic treatment of the RVU and in the detection of its complications...

A case of a complete lumbosacral agenesis is presented, whose etiological factors are unknown. Clinically, motor deficit corresponded to the agenesis level, but the sensibility and the autonomous nervous system functions, which were conserved, partially, in lower levels than the normal ones in the agenesis. The case report is completed with electromiography, mielography, rectal biopsy, urography, cistography, opaque enema and inborn infection study. There are three facts: a partially conserved sensibility in the lower extremities, normal bladder function and above all, the presence of nervous parasympatics normal fibers in rectum wall, in contrast with the serious motor alteration just in the same medullar levels...
