Due to their maximum atomic use of metal sites, single-atom catalysts (SACs) exhibit excellent catalytic activity in a variety of reactions. Although many techniques have been reported for the production of SACs, the construction of single atoms through a convenient strategy is still challenging. Here, we provide a facile method to prepare nickel SACs by utilizing the inherent confined space between the template and silica walls in template-occupied mesoporous silica KIT-6 (TOK). After the introduction of nickel-containing precursors into the inherent confined space of the TOK by solid-phase grinding, Ni SACs can be produced promptly during calcination...

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) offers a standardized approach for imaging hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the diverse styles and structures of radiology reports complicate automatic data extraction. Large language models hold the potential for structured data extraction from free-text reports. Our objective was to evaluate the performance of Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT)-4 in extracting LI-RADS features and categories from free-text liver magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reports...

UNLABELLED: The cellular surface of the pathogenic filamentous fungus Aspergillus fumigatus is enveloped in a mannose layer, featuring well-established fungal-type galactomannan and O -mannose-type galactomannan. This study reports the discovery of cell wall component in A. fumigatus mycelium, which resembles N -glycan outer chains found in yeast. The glycosyltransferases involved in its biosynthesis in A. fumigatus were identified, with a focus on two key α-(1→2)-mannosyltransferases, Mnn2 and Mnn5, and two α-(1→6)-mannosyltransferases, Mnn9 and Van1...

Despite receiving significant recent attention, the relevance of structural variation (SV) in driving phenotypic diversity remains understudied, although recent advances in long-read sequencing, bioinformatics and pangenomic approaches have enhanced SV detection. We review the role of SVs in shaping phenotypes in avian model systems, and identify some general patterns in SV type, length and their associated traits. We found that most of the avian SVs so far identified are short indels in chickens, which are frequently associated with changes in body weight and plumage colouration...

INTRODUCTION: High rates of suicidal ideation (SI), suicide attempts (SA), and repetitive nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) among some ethnoracially minoritized United States youth populations may be related to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) with structural roots. METHODS: Using the 2013-2019 Minnesota Student Surveys, we assessed associations of student-reported structural ACEs (parental incarceration, housing instability, food insecurity, and foster care involvement) with SI, SA, and repetitive NSSI within the past 12 months using multilevel logistic regression stratified by ethnoracial group (American Indian/Alaskan Native [AIAN], Hmong, other Asian, Black Latino, other Latino, Somali, other Black/African American [AA], Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander [NHPI], and multiracial), and adjusted for sex, grade, ACEs experienced within one's household, mental health treatment, and perceived safety...

Electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate to ammonia provides a green alternate to the Haber-Bosch method, yet it suffers from sluggish kinetics and a low yield rate. The nitrate reduction follows a tandem reaction of nitrate reduction to nitrite and subsequent nitrite hydrogenation to generate ammonia, and the ammonia Faraday efficiency (FE) is limited by the competitive hydrogen evolution reaction. Herein, we design a heterostructure catalyst to remedy the above issues, which consists of Ni nanosphere core and Ni(OH)2 nanosheet shell (Ni/Ni(OH)2)...

Three new nitrides La3MN5 (M = Cr, Mn, and Mo) have been synthesized using a high pressure azide route. These are the first examples of ternary Cs3CoCl5-type nitrides, and show that this (MN4)NLa3 antiperovskite structure type may be used to stabilise high oxidation-state transition metals in tetrahedral molecular [MN4]n- nitridometallate anions. Magnetic measurements confirm that Cr and Mo are in the M6+ state, but the M = Mn phase has an anomalously small paramagnetic moment and large cell volume. Neutron powder diffraction data are fitted using an anion-excess La3MnN5...

Energetic hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (E-HOFs), as a type of energetic material, spark fresh vitality to the creation of high energy density materials (HEDMs). However, E-HOFs containing cations and anions face challenges such as reduced energy density due to the inclusion of crystal water. In this work, the modification of amino groups in N-rich organic units could form a smart building block of hydrogen-bonded frameworks capable of changing the volume of the void space in the molecule through adaptive deformation of E-MOF blocks, thus enabling the replacement of water...

Covering: 1993 to the end of 2022As the rapid development of antibiotic resistance shrinks the number of clinically available antibiotics, there is an urgent need for novel options to fill the existing antibiotic pipeline. In recent years, antimicrobial peptides have attracted increased interest due to their impressive broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and low probability of antibiotic resistance. However, macromolecular antimicrobial peptides of plant and animal origin face obstacles in antibiotic development because of their extremely short elimination half-life and poor chemical stability...

BACKGROUND: Aging populations are driving a shift in emphasis toward enhancing chronic disease care, reflected in Catalonia's regional plan which prioritizes standardized nursing care plans in primary care settings. Aflibercept is a therapeutic recombinant fusion protein comprising extracellular domains of human vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs) and IgG1-Fc. It is a highly glycosylated protein with five N-glycosylation sites that might impact it structurally and/or functionally. Aflibercept is produced in mammalian cells and exhibits large glycan heterogeneity, which hampers glycan-associated investigations. Here, we report the expression of aflibercept in a plant-based system with targeted N-glycosylation profiles...

Recently, pyrrole cages have been synthesized that encapsulate ion pairs and silver(I) clusters to form intricate supramolecular capsules. We report here a computational analysis of these structures using density functional theory combined with a semiempirical tight-binding approach. We find that for neutral pyrrole cages, the Gibbs free energies of formation provide reliable predictions for the ratio of bound ions. For charged pyrrole cages, we find strong argentophilic interactions between Ag ions on the basis of the calculated bond indices and molecular orbitals...

BACKGROUND: Previous studies demonstrate a link between irritability and suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) in youth samples. However, they have mostly assessed irritability in community samples and as a largely dispositional (i.e. trait-like) construct. Thus, it remains unclear to what extent links between irritability and STBs reflect within-person processes of elevated risk in clinically meaningful time periods. METHODS: The present study used clinical data from 689 adolescents aged 12-19 years attending a total of 6,128 visits at a specialty Intensive Outpatient Program for depressed and suicidal youth to examine patterns in weekly assessments of irritability and STBs throughout treatment, including associations among trends and fluctuations departing from these trends via multilevel structural equation modeling...
