Grapevine woody by-products contain bioactive substances, mainly phenolic compounds (PCs), whose beneficial health effects initially depends on their levels of intake and bioavailability. Therefore, in-vitro simulated gastrointestinal digestion (GID; oral, gastric and intestinal phases) was performed to evaluate the bioaccessibility and antioxidant capacity (AC) of PCs extracts recovered from grapevine bunch stem and cane from Malbec grape cultivar. The total PCs in cane and bunch stem extracts were 74 and 20% bioaccessible, respectively...

BACKGROUND: Knowledge of the chemical composition of wine and its association with the grape variety/cultivar is of paramount importance in oenology and a necessary tool for marketing. Phenolic compounds are very important quality parameters of wines because of their impact on colour, taste and health properties. The aim of the present work was to study and describe the non-flavonoid and flavonoid composition of wines from the principal red grape varieties cultivated in Mendoza (Argentina)...

This work described the development and characterization of an electrochemical method using square wave voltammetry (SWV) combined with the use of modified magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), which had shown a rapid and sensitive determination of ochratoxin A (OTA) in wine grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Syrah) post-harvest tissues. The wine grapes were inoculated with Aspergillus ochraceus to obtain OTA in artificially infected samples. The OTA was directly determined using square-wave voltammetry. The current obtained is directly proportional to the concentration of OTA present in the samples...

SUBJECT: Analyze characteristics of neuromeningeal tuberculosis in the northeastern suburbs of Paris. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Retrospective study of 19 observations between 1988 and 1999. RESULTS: Thirteen cases of meningitis, 3 cases of meningitis associated with a tuberculoma and 3 cases with isolated tuberculoma were described. Young subjects (average age 46.4), foreign born (73.7%) were preferentially affected. Three patients were infected by the human immunodeficiency virus...
