Using immunocytochemistry methods, the structure of synaptonemal complexes (SC) of chromosomes in spread nuclei of primary spermatocytes of mice at 1, 10, and 36 days after the 10-day intraperitoneal administration of antibacterial preparations of three pharmacological groups: furacilin, an antiseptic derivative of nitrofuran; cifran, an antibiotic from the group of fluoroquinolones; and sextaphage, a polyvalent piobacteriophage was investigated. The maximal number of disturbances in the structure and behavior of synaptonemal complex was revealed on the first day after the end of preparation administration...

Clinical description of salmonellosis and concomitant yersiniosis in 6 women aged 26-50 years infected from a common source is presented. They were members of a group of 65 women suffering alimentary intoxication the source of which was supposed to be either light-salted salmon or vegetable salad. The incubation period varied from 4 to 12 hours. The disease started as an acute infection with a rise in temperature to 38.5-40 degrees C, repeated vomiting, mucous-watery diarrhea and pain in the right half of the abdomen (largely in the ileocecal region)...

Drugs that have narrow absorption window in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) will have poor absorption. For these drugs, gastroretentive drug delivery systems offer the advantage in prolonging the gastric emptying time. Swellable, floating, and sustained release tablets are developed by using a combination of hydrophilic polymer (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), swelling agents (crospovidone, sodium starch glycolate, and croscarmelose sodium) and effervescent substance (sodium bicarbonate). Formulations are evaluated for percentage swelling, in vitro drug release, floating lag time, total duration of floating, and mean residence time (MRT) in the stomach...

Clinical and microbiological efficacy of Cifran OD (Ranbaxy, India), a formulation with prolonged action and extended release of ciprofloxacin was studied in 22 patients with bacteriuria and lingering diabetes mellitus. Ciprofloxacin was used in doses of 500 or 1000 mg orally once a day depending on the severity of the disease singns for 2-3 weeks as etiotropic therapy and only in 2 cases with severe pyelonephritis it was used intravenously drop-wise and orally simultaneously. Twenty eight microbial strains isolated from urea of the patients were tested...

Clinical and microbiological efficacies of a combined drug, a fixed combination of ciprofloxacin and tinidazole in the form of tablets (Cifran ST, Ranbaxy, India) were studied. The drug was given to 40 patients with skin and soft tissue infections in the complex surgical treatment. The clinical effect and bacteriological efficacy were observed in 97.5 and 75% of the cases respectively. The drug tolerability was good and no adverse reactions were stated.

The efficacy and safety of Cifran OD, a new dosage form of ciprofloxacin with prolonged action were studied in the treatment of patients with bronchopulmonary infection (n=23). The drug was used orally in a dose of 1 g once a day. The patients were divided into 2 groups: group 1 included patients with aggravation of chronic bronchitis and group 2 included patients with bacterial pneumonia. The recovery was stated in 77.7% of the patients in group 1, the other 26.3% of the patients showed clinical improvement...

The cultural, physiologo-biochemical adhesive and antagonistic properties of B. subtilis strains with good prospects for use as biotherapeutic preparations were studied. For further studies B. subtilis strain No. 1719 was chosen. In experiments on non-inbred white mice the animals were treated by the preparation Cifran used for their selective decontamination from opportunistic microflora and for the creation of the state of dysbiosis. The influence of the spore-forming microbe on the parietal microflora of the large intestine of the animals was shown...

The results of the use of antibacterial preparation "Cifran" in patients with purulent-inflammatory processes of different genesis and location were studied. A good tolerance of the patients to the preparation was established. High chemotherapeutic effectiveness of the preparation in detection of gram-positive, gram-negative and anaerobic microflora was noted.
