BACKGROUND: Current algorithms and device morphology templates have been proposed in current Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) to minimize inappropriate therapies (ITS), but this has not been completely successful. AIM: Assess the impact of a deliberate strategy of using an atrial lead implant with standardized parameters; based on all current ICD discriminators and technologies, on the burden of ITS. METHOD: A retrospective single-centre analysis of 250 patients with either dual chamber (DR) ICDs or biventricular ICDs (CRTDs) over a (41...

Aims: Cryoablation is a promising alternative technique to RF ablation for treating paroxysmal AF with encouraging results. However, data about the efficacy and safety comparison between cryoablation and RF ablation is still lacking. Methods and results: We systematically search the PubMed, the Cochrane Library, MEDLINE and Google Scholar databases, and finally identify 16 eligible studies including 7195 patients (2863 for cryoablation; 4332 for RF ablation). Freedom from AF/atrial tachycardial replase is slightly higher in cryoablation than RF ablation during a median 12 months of follow-up, with no statistical significant (RR: 1...

OBJECTIVE: To explore effects of Tongxinluo Capsule (TC) on platelet activating factor (PAF), vascular endothelial function, thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) blood flow, and heart function in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients after delayed percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODS: Totally 80 AMI inpatients were recruited at Department of Cardiology, People's Hospital of Jiangxi Province, from Jan. 2008 to Sep.2013. Those in line with inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to TC treatment group and the conventional treatment group by random digit table, 40 in each group...

BACKGROUND: Verification of bidirectional block is important for mitral isthmus (MI) ablation. However, recurrent perimitral reentry exists despite apparently MI block. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to identify and investigate the characteristics of the ridge breakthrough despite apparent bidirectional MI block and related reentry. METHODS: In 60 patients undergoing MI ablation and achieving the criteria of bidirectional block when assessed on the line, the pattern under differential pacing was reassessed at the ridge away from the line to check whether a breakthrough existed...

The Brugada syndrome is an inherited cardiac disorder initially described in 1992 by Pedro and Josep Brugada, with variable electrocardiographic features characteristic of right bundle-branch block, persistent ST-segment elevation in the precordial leads (VI-V3) at rest and sudden cardiac death. The genetic abnormalities that cause Brugada syndrome have been linked to mutations in the ion channel gene SCN5A which encodes for the alpha-subunit of the cardiac sodium channel. A consensus conference report published in 2002 described the diagnostic criteria for the Brugada syndrome and described the three distinct types of Brugada syndrome...

UNLABELLED: In 1992 the radiofrequency ablation program was started, with very good results in patients with supraventricular tachycardias and normal hearts or minimal structural defects. Nevertheless, the results are not as good for the patients with structural defects, that are actually seen more frequently, those are cases with more complex arrhythmias, are patients with cardiac surgery that show a complex arrhythmogenic substrate or patients previously treated with conventional ablation which tachycardia recurs...

We present a rare case of high-stage paroxysmal atrial tachycardia, clinically exhibit during pregnancy. Refers to 29-years-old pregnant woman, without preceding heart disease. With advancement of pregnancy tachycardial bout getting up daily, its severity increased gradually. At 24 weeks gestation, close to serial ponderous crisis, heart frequency exceed 200 heart beat per minute, expressing clinical manifestation of MAS-syndrome. The bout was not influenced on applied drug therapy. Restore to normal heart rhythm is reached difficult after electro-cardioversion ...

Cardiac arrhythmias are one of the most frequent complications in the immediate post-operatory period of cardiac surgery with extracorporeal circulation, this occurring in between 35% and 50% of the patients subjected to this therapeutic intervention. Among the causal factors, electrolytic alterations, direct surgical aggression on the heart tissue and alterations secondary to ischemic cell damage that is produced in the myocardial during extracorporeal circulation are found. Due to the frequency of appearance of arrhythmias, we decided to study them and know them in depth...

The in-vivo beta-adrenoreceptor antagonistic activity of test compounds DPJ 955 and DPJ 890 was assessed against beta-adrenoreceptor agonist (isoprenaline) induced tachycardia in anaesthetized rats. The selectivity to block isoprenaline responses on different &beta-adrenoreceptor subtypes (beta(1), beta(2) and beta(3)) of the test compounds was carried out on isolated rat right atria, isolated rat uterus and isolated rat colon preparations, respectively. Intravenous injection of isoprenaline alone in anaesthetized rats caused hypotension and tachycardia...

beta-Adrenoreceptor antagonistic activity of a newly synthesized compound was evaluated in vivo by measuring the mean arterial blood pressure and heart rate of urethane-anesthetized rats treated with isoprenaline. In vitro beta(1)-, beta(2)- and beta(3)-antagonism was studied using isolated rat right atria, isolated rat uterus and isolated rat colon preparations, respectively, in comparison to isoprenaline response. DPJ 904 (1, 3 and 10 mg/kg, i.v.) produced dose-dependent hypotensive and bradycardia response in anesthetized rat...
