Relationship between nighttime snack and human health conditions remains unclear. In this paper, we analyzed the association of frequency of nighttime snacking with obesity, hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia using a Chinese teacher cohort. The Chinese teacher study contains 22,176 of the general adult population operated on in 2015. Information of nighttime snacking frequency was acquired by questionnaire. Overweight and obesity outcome were assessed by body mass index (BMI), and hypertension; hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia were self-reported...

The tumor microenvironment comprises various cellular components and associated subcellular molecules with antitumor and protumor effects. Because respective targeted treatment strategies are arising, it is important to characterize the exact role of these parameters. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of key immunologic factors in the tumor microenvironment of 383 surgically resected non-small cell lung cancer specimens. CD4, CD8, forkhead box protein P3, transforming growth factor β, Casitas B-cell lymphoma-b, programed death 1, T-cell-restricted intracellular antigen 1, granzyme B, mast cell tryptase, and stromal cell-derived factor 1 were analyzed by immunohistochemistry using a standardized tissue microarray platform...

Despite the wide use of intravenous cyclophosphamide (IC) in lupus nephritis (LN), there are few published studies showing the effect of this treatment on renal histology. In this prospective study, we report the effect of IC on the evolution of histopathologic features in successive renal biopsies in patients with LN. Thirty patients with class IV or V LN were started on IC (10-15 mg/kg) administered once every month for six months followed by three monthly for another six doses making a total of two years of therapy...

INTRODUCTION: Body satisfaction has mostly been investigated among patients with psychiatric diseases. A few studies have found an association between physical activity, obesity and body satisfaction in the healthy population, but the focus has mostly been on the risk of developing diseases. The aim of the present study has been to study the association between body satisfaction, BMI, physical activity and chronic diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 15,252 women and 14,181 men born between 1953 and 1982 (both years included) and registered with The Danish Twin Registry answered a questionnaire which they were sent in 1994...

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the importance of genetic and environmental sources of variation for results of behaviour tests in young dogs being used for progeny evaluations in the Hovawart dog. In total, 4,113 dogs born in 1995 to 2000 have been available for these analyses. Traits used were appearance, hunting affinity, group of people, acoustical and optical influences and temperament. Variance components were estimated using multivariat linear animal models and Restricted Maximum Likelihood (REML)...

OBJECTIVE: To explore the utility of principle component analysis (PCA) on chromatographic data for quality control to Dannanxing (Pinellia Cum Bile). METHOD: Chromatographic fingerprints of sample were determined by TLC, PCA and multivariat analysis were used for data processing. RESULT: The quantitative differences among samples procesed with different biles and heating time were found with the method. CONCLUSION: PCA could be used in data processing for chromato-gramphic fingerprints of Dannanxing...

Scoliosis may lead to multiple impairments depending on its seriousness. Here we have to make the distinction between direct impairments in the physical field and indirect impairments in the psychosocial field. The findings of different studies indicate that the psychosocial situation in juvenile and adult scoliotic patients is characterized by increased strain. The present study is meant to answer the question in which fields of quality of life female scoliotic patients are impaired and if these impairments are dependent of age or seriousness of illness (Cobb angle)...

In the way of quantitative investigations of nerve cells and neuroglia in g. parahippocampalis and following analysis of measuring dates by multivariat variance- and discriminance-analysis was demonstrated that aging process in ammonite formation can be described on the base of cells only in sector subiculum.
