Purpose: The effect of chronic limb threatening ischemia (CLTI) on advanced cardiac disease, which requires surgical treatment, has rarely been reported. The purpose of this study was to review the outcomes of cardiac surgery in patients with CLTI and determine the risk factors, with a particular focus on the severity of CLTI. Patients: The baseline characteristics and outcomes of 33 patients who were treated for CLTI and underwent cardiac surgery were retrospectively analyzed...

COMPARATIVE STUDY
(no author information available yet)
The study included 2 groups of patients with arterial hypertension and coronary heart disease treated by traditional therapy or its combination with melatonin. All 31 patients aged 41-70 years underwent measurement of AP and pulse rate in morning and evening hours. Correlation analysis between hemodynamic parameters and weather factors (curtsey of Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radiowaves) was performed. The study revealed 64 significant correlations in patients given traditional treatment...

We report a case of a young HIV-infected woman treated for more than ten years by highly active antiretroviral therapy, presenting a peroperative acute coronary syndrome caused by a hypertensive episode after systemic resorption of locally applied epinephrine during a functional endoscopic sinus surgery. Since patients with multiple risk factors for coronary artery desease seems to be more susceptible to complications of epinephrine injection, this reminds us of the higher cardiovascular risk for HIV patients with long term treatment...

UNLABELLED: Diabetes mellitus is very frequent disease. The prevalence of coronary artery disease is higher in diabetic than in non-diabetic patients. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the main cause of morbidity and mortalitiy in patients with Diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to evaluate usfulnes of myocardial perfusion scintigraphy in diabetic patients for detection of coronary artery disease. PATIENTS AND METHODS: this study included 15 patients with verified diabetes mellitus...

AIM: To assess the role of estimation of coronary reserve in coronary sinus by transesophageal doppler during dipyridamole stress test for diagnosis of hemodynamically significant left coronary artery stenoses. MATERIAL: Patients with angiographically proven left coronary artery stenoses (n=29) and 25 healthy volunteers. METHODS: Coronary reserve was calculated as 1) ratio of peak to basal diastolic coronary flow velocity (V(p)CR), and 2) ratio of volume coronary blood flow velocity before and during hyperemia (VBF CR)...

Forty-nine patients with chronic left bundle branch block and a normal frontal axis were compared with 53 patients with left bundle branch block and left axis deviation. The following clinical variables were more frequent (P less than 0.05) in patients with left axis deviation: greater age, exertional angina, congestive heart failure, cardiomegaly, cardiac functional class II to IV, coronary artery disease and presence of organic heart disease. Absence of organic heart disease (primary conduction disease) was seen only in patients with a normal axis...
