BACKGROUND AND AIM: Coronavirus disease 2019 (CO-VID-19) is known to predominantly present with respiratory symptoms; however, a significant proportion of patients present with digestive symptoms. These symptoms are often non-specific and as such prompt the treating physician to request further imaging evaluation. Understanding the abdominal imaging findings in COVID-19 and their possible associations is thus crucial to direct patient care and prevent misdiagnosis. The aim of this study was to describe abdominal imaging findings on both computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound scans in cases with positive COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests performed at our institution, and also, to evaluate the reason for requesting these imaging studies, and to correlate these findings with patients' demographics...

Biliary fistula is a rare (less than 8%) cholecystectomy complication, internal fistulae being the most common of them (mainly colonic and duodenal). However, the presence of two fistulas at the same time is extremely rare, with a small number of cases reported in the literature to date. Symptoms tend to be non-specific, leading to a difficult preoperative diagnosis. The standard treatment for bilioenteric fistulas is open cholecystectomy and subsequent closure of the fistula. Nonetheless, modern techniques including laparoscopic and endoscopic approaches have been reported lately for their treatment with favorable results...

Millennials (age: 25-32 years) and Generation-Z individuals (age: 10-25 years) exhibit a shift in the occurrence of gallbladder diseases, which may be related to changes in lifestyle and genetics. In light of these findings, we performed a retrospective observational study on patients who underwent gallbladder surgeries to determine the trend in gallbladder diseases in young adults. Both categorical and continuous data on 90 patients were collected between January 2020 and June 2021 and analysed retrospectively, with differences considered significant at a p -value of 0...

Gallbladder agenesis is a rare anatomic congenital abnormality caused by the cystic bud failing to develop into the gallbladder. Gallbladder agenesis has a variable presentation, with 50% of patients presenting with symptoms mimicking biliary colic and 35% being incidentally discovered during surgery or autopsy, while another 15% can present with fatal fetal anomalies. In this article, we present a case of gallbladder agenesis in a young woman who presented with biliary-colic-like symptoms suggesting cholecystitis...

A correct preoperative diagnosis of gall-bladder tuberculosis is exceptionally unusual in the absence of pathognomic features both on clinical presentation and on imaging. Herein we present a case of 50 year female who was operated with a provisional diagnosis of gall-bladder malignancy and was found to have tuberculosis of gall-bladder on histopathology.

In article the data on interrelation between gallbladder contractility and a level of hormones of a thyroid gland (threeiodethyronine, thyroxine, thyrotropin hormone (TTH) and antibodies to thyreoperoxidase (AT to TPO)) in plasma of blood at 470 healthy persons and 540 patients with gallstone disease are submitted. The contractility function of a gallbladder on ultrasonic at persons with gallstone disease is authentic less, than at healthy persons. Dysfunction of a thyroid gland is found out in women with gallstone disease: increase TTH and AT to TPO...

Gall blader abnormalities are very rare. The diagnosis is difficult, more often appears during operation or necropsy. The authors present a clinical case with double gall blader, into a 50 years old man. The diagnosis appeared during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The colecistectomy was performed for chronic cholelithiasis. Even it is rare, this pathology should be known, to avoid biliary ducts iatrogenic injuries during operations. The authors made a mustering of literature.

Gall bladder hydatid cyst is a rare entity. Concurrent occurrence of gall blader hydatid cysts along with liver cysts, especially with the biliary channels clear of cysts, is very rare. We report a 27-year-old man with a gall bladder hydatid cyst that was diagnosed only after opening the resected specimen of the gall bladder.

The aim of the study was to demonstrate the importance of early laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis, without "conservative" treatment (intravenous fluids and antibiotics for 48-72 hours) to reduce inflammation. Early laparoscopic cholecystectomy reduces bile duct injury and the percentage of conversion to open cholecystectomy. Thirty-five patients with acute cholecystitis were submitted to early laparoscopic cholecystectomy, equally divided according to sex. All patients were submitted to US scans preoperatively and operated on by surgeons skilled in emergency laparoscopic operative techniques...
