In the medical diagnosis and treatment planning, radiologists and surgeons rely heavily on the slices produced by medical imaging devices. Unfortunately, these image scanners could only present the 3-D human anatomical structure in 2-D. Traditionally, this requires medical professional concerned to study and analyze the 2-D images based on their expert experience. This is tedious, time consuming and prone to error; expecially when certain features are occluding the desired region of interest. Reconstruction procedures was earlier proposed to handle such situation...

INTRODUCTION: Peripheral neuropathy is usually one of the initial symptoms of necrotizing vasculitis. Early diagnosis is essential for good prognosis. OBJECTIVE: To determine which parameters are useful for early diagnosis and selection of tissue for biopsy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We analyzed the clinical, biological, electromyographic and anatomopathological characteristics of 26 patients with necrotizing vasculitis and peripheral neuropathy...

Malignant lymphocytes from 30 B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) patients were studied for the cytochemical localization of two acid hydrolases, alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) and acid phosphatase (AT). The large majority of the cells stained for both ANAE and AP in 7 cases, for AP only in 18 cases, and were negative for both the enzymes in 5 cases. Ultrastructural analysis revealed that the cells that displayed more mature morphological features, such as well developed smooth and rough membrane compartments, were those positive for acid hydrolases...

A patient with Walderström macroglobulinemia associated with nephrotic syndrome is described. Serum cryoglobulin and rheumatoid factor were absent. Intramembranous electron-dense deposits were demonstrated in kidney biopsy material by electron microscopy. Deposits of immunoglobulin G (IgG), M (IgM) and the third component of complement (C3) were identified in kidney biopsy tissue by immunofluorescent staining methods. The serum immunoglobulins were characterized by chromatographic and immunochemical methods and showed a monocional IgM-K, IgG-K and gamma-chain piece of undefined structure...
