INTRODUCTION: Clinical placements provide opportunities for student nurses to learn experientially, thanks to clinical - practical teaching models. For this purpose this review wanted to better investigate the latest methods developed in nursing education to ameliorate the theory practice model in nursing education teaching model. METHODS: The review of the literature was performed through a search of nursing specific data bases, including Cinahl, Capsur, Ovid, Cockrane Library, PubMed from January 2010 to September 2012...

Single nucle otide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most popular markers in genetic epidemiology. Multiple tests have been applied to evaluate genetic effect of SNPs, such as Pearson's test with two degrees of freedom, three tests with one degree of freedom (chi(2) tests for dominant and recessive modes and Cockran-Armitage trend test for additive mode) as well as MAX3 test and MAX test, which are combination of four tests mentioned earlier. Because MAX test is a combination of Pearson's test of two degrees of freedom and two tests of one degree of freedom, the probability density function (pdf) of MAX statistics does not match pdf of chi(2) distribution of either one or two degrees of freedom...

BACKGROUND: Albuminuria predicts nephropathy-related mortality in Caucasian and Chinese populations. The involvement of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) gene polymorphisms in the pathogenesis of nephropathy has been described predominantly in Caucasian populations. We have previously suggested that the angiotensinogen 235T variant may be associated with nephropathy in diabetic Chinese. PATIENTS AND METHODS: To validate these findings and extend them to include non-diabetic nephropathy, we examined the association of albuminuria and gene polymorphisms of the angiotensinogen M235T, angiotensin-converting enzyme insertion/deletion and angiotensin II type I receptor A1166C polymorphisms in 614 Chinese subjects (66% type 2 diabetic, 16% normoglycemic hypertensives and 18% controls)...

Insulin resistance has been described as a possible underlying link for the clustering of Type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, and dyslipidemia, known as the metabolic syndrome. Mutations within the insulin receptor have been associated with hypertension in some white and Oriental populations. We examined the relationship between the insulin receptor NsiI restriction fragment-length polymorphism (RFLP) and biochemical and anthropometric parameters associated with these disorders in 933 Chinese subjects...

The prognostic value of CEA for the purposes of postoperative monitoring assessed in 45 patients with cancer of the colon and rectum. Values were obtained 1-36 months after surgery in all operable cases. Means were also evaluated statistically at various follow-up times. In patients who relapsed, values stayed significantly higher for up to 6 months after surgery than in those who did not. Cockran's method showed that the prognostic significance of this difference 6 months after surgery was p less than 0.05...

Search Tips

Use Boolean operators: AND/OR

diabetic AND foot
diabetes OR diabetic

Exclude a word using the 'minus' sign

Virchow -triad

Use Parentheses

water AND (cup OR glass)

Add an asterisk (*) at end of a word to include word stems

Neuro* will search for Neurology, Neuroscientist, Neurological, and so on

Use quotes to search for an exact phrase

"primary prevention of cancer"
(heart or cardiac or cardio*) AND arrest -"American Heart Association"
