In addition, we evaluate possible risk factors for IOL dislocation or aphakia. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This retrospective case series reviewed medical records for all patients who had undergone surgery for IOL dislocation or aphakia during a 5-year period at a single ophthalmic center in Sweden...

PURPOSE: Scleral fixation of intraocular lenses constitutes a surgical option in cases where there is inadequate capsular support or zonular insufficiency. Knotless techniques, such as the z-suture technique, avoid suture-related complications, such as conjunctival erosion or exposure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the visual outcomes and postoperative complications of patients who underwent scleral z-suture fixation of the Akreos AO® intraocular lenses. METHODS: A retrospective, observational study was conducted, including 22 eyes of 20 patients who underwent Akreos AO® intraocular lenses using the z- suture scleral fixation technique...

We describe a novel technique that uses precision pulse capsulotomy (PPC) to perform a secondary capsulotomy for the management of anterior capsule contraction syndrome (ACCS), a condition that comprises a late complication after cataract surgery and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Micropulse secondary capsulotomy offers a controlled and safe approach for patients with severe anterior capsule contraction syndrome and may be considered as an alternative surgical technique.

METHODS: 205 children (356 aphakic eyes) receiving secondary IOL implantation at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center with a 3-year follow-up were enrolled. Cox proportional hazard model was used to identify predictors of GRAEs and developed nomograms. BACKGROUND A Sömmering ring is a post-cataract opacity (PCO) formed due to the adhesion of anterior capsule edges to the posterior capsule. It is mostly associated with aphakic cases but has also been reported in pseudophakic eyes. It becomes clinically important when dislocation occurs. The purpose of this manuscript was to report a case of anterior dislocation of the Sömmering ring 14 years after lensectomy for congenital cataract. OBJECTIVES: Iris-claw intraocular lens (IC-IOL) implantation and sutureless scleral fixation of intraocular lenses (SSF-IOL) are two commonly preferred surgical approaches for the management of aphakic patients without sufficient capsular support. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of IC-IOL implantation and trocar-assisted SSF-IOL implantation. METHODS: The medical records of secondary IOL implantation patients were retrospectively reviewed. All patients had a detailed ophthalmological examination, including LogMAR best-corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), and endothelial cell density (ECD) preoperatively and postoperatively...
