A photoelectrochemical sensor for target detection of hydrogen peroxide was designed based on a new heterojunction nanocomposite which was sulfhydryl-borate ester-modified A1/B1-type pillar[5]arene (BP5)-functionalized Au NPs and multi-walled carbon nanotubes hybridized with bismuth bromide oxide (Au@BP5/MWNTs-BiOBr). The specific sensor was based on the direct induction of oxidation by hydrogen peroxide of the borate ester group of pillar[5]arene. Additionally, the local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of Au NPs enhanced visible light capture, the host-guest complexation of BP5 with H2 O2 enhanced photocurrent response, the layer-by-layer stacked nanoflower structure of BiOBr provided large specific surface area with more active sites, and the conductivity of MWNTs enhanced the charge separation efficiency and significantly improves the stability of PEC...

BACKGROUND: The scope and number of disasters have increased over the years. This has called for more robust disaster preparedness training and plans. The use of virtual reality exercises in addition to tabletop exercises is considered a new approach to the preparation of disaster preparedness plans. Virtual reality exercises are being developed to either replace or complement current traditional approaches to disaster preparedness training. OBJECTIVES: To review and summarize the current existing literature regarding the effectiveness, advantages and limitations of using virtual reality exercises in disaster preparedness as a complementary/replacement mechanism for real-time drills and tabletop exercises...

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to investigate differences in the anti-hepatitis A (HAV) antibody seropositivity rate by age and gender. METHODS: We collected information on anti-HAV immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin M status from samples submitted for HAV antibody testing in 2012-2022. A total of 1,333,615 cases were included in the analysis. RESULTS: By age, the seropositivity rate was represented by a U-shaped curve, such that the rate was low for the group aged 20 to 39 years and higher in those who were younger or older...

BACKGROUND: Thromboxane metabolites could indirectly reflect platelet activation, among which 11-dehydro-thromboxane B2 (11dhTxB2 ) and 11-dehydro-2, 3-dinor thromboxane B2 (11dh23dinorTxB2 ) are two stable metabolites that are abundant in urine, and both are closely related to disease progression and drug use. However, most clinical application studies have focused on the single indicator of 11dhTxB2 . We propose an LC-MS/MS method suitable for routine clinical screening with simultaneous determination of both metabolites and conduct preliminary studies in different populations...

We compared general anesthesia to conscious sedation for TAVI procedures with respect to post operative morbidity, hospital length of stay, and financial burden. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of prospectively collected data in patients undergoing transfemoral TAVI procedures from 2012 to 2017. PURPOSE: The significance of postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) in breast cancer patients who initially have clinically node-positive (cN +) status but achieve downstaging to ypN0 following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) remains uncertain. This study aims to assess the impact of PMRT in this patient subset. METHODS: Patients were enrolled from West China Hospital, Sichuan University from 2008 to 2019. Overall survival (OS), Locoregional recurrence-free survival (LRFS), distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), and breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS) were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and assessed with the log-rank test...

Caulerpa lentillifera is rich in polysaccharides, and its polysaccharides show a significant effect in different biological activities including anti-cancer activity. As an edible algae-derived polysaccharide, exploring the role of colon cancer can better develop the application from a dietary therapy perspective. However, more in-depth studies of C. lentillifera polysaccharide on anti-colon cancer activity and mechanism are needed. In this study, we found that Caulerpa lentillifera polysaccharides (CLP) showed potential anti-colon cancer effect on human colon cancer cell HT29 in monolayer (IC50  = 1...

Chronic wounds have a significant impact on a patient's quality of life. Different pathologies, such as poor blood supply and tissue breakdown, may lead to inadequate oxygenation of the wound. Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2 ) is a widely used treatment for an increasing number of medical practices. A new so-called "hyperbaric treatment" trend has emerged. The use of low-pressure, soft-sided, or inflatable chambers represents a growing trend in hyperbaric medicine. Used in professional settings as well as directly marketed to individuals for home use, they are promoted as equivalent to clinical hyperbaric treatments provided in medical centers...
