This report describes the successful use of a new intervention to improve respiratory mechanics and gas exchange in a relatively homogeneous group of infants with severe bronchiolitis-induced PARDS after failure of conventional treatment. Acute bronchiolitis is the most common lower respiratory tract infection in infants and an important cause of hospital admissions. In the initial course of the disease there are no clinical or analytical parameters that can accurately predict disease severity.
