Using e^{+}e^{-} collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33  fb^{-1} recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we present an analysis of the decay D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}, where the D_{s}^{+} is produced via the process e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{*±}D_{s}^{∓}. We observe the f_{0}(980) in the π^{+}π^{-} system and the branching fraction of the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} with f_{0}(980)→π^{+}π^{-} measured to be (1...

The newly discovered high-temperature superconductivity in La_{3}Ni_{2}O_{7} under pressure has attracted a great deal of attention. The essential ingredient characterizing the electronic properties is the bilayer NiO_{2} planes coupled by the interlayer bonding of 3d_{z^{2}} orbitals through the intermediate oxygen atoms. In the strong coupling limit, the low-energy physics is described by an intralayer antiferromagnetic spin-exchange interaction J_{∥} between 3d_{x^{2}-y^{2}} orbitals and an interlayer one J_{⊥} between 3d_{z^{2}} orbitals...

BACKGROUND: Cellular therapies have been investigated to improve blood flow and prevent amputation in peripheral artery disease with limited efficacy in clinical trials. Alginate-encapsulated mesenchymal stromal cells (eMSCs) demonstrated improved retention and survival and promoted vascular generation in murine hind limb ischemia through their secretome, but large animal evaluation is necessary for human applicability. We sought to determine the efficacy of eMSCs for peripheral artery disease-induced limb ischemia through assessment in our durable swine hind limb ischemia model...

OBJECTIVE: Tinnitus is a multifactorial phenomenon with quality-of-life detriments for those affected by it. We aim to establish a relationship between subjective tinnitus severity with objective audiometric data in the extended high frequency (EHF) from 9 to 16 khz and with distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE). We hypothesize that severe subjective tinnitus as measured by the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) does not correlate with increased hearing thresholds in the EHF range...

Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals materials are increasingly seen as potential catalysts due to their unique structures and unmatched properties. However, achieving precise synthesis of these remarkable materials and regulating their atomic and electronic structures at the most fundamental level to enhance their catalytic performance remain a significant challenge. In this study, we synthesized single-crystal bulk PtTe crystals via chemical vapor transport and subsequently produced atomically thin, large PtTe nanosheets (NSs) through electrochemical cathode intercalation...

The study proposes a dynamic spatio-temporal profile of the distribution of tuberculosis incidence and air pollution in Romania, where this infectious disease induces more than 8,000 new cases annually. The descriptive analysis for the years 2012-2021 assumes an identification of the structuring patterns of mycobacterium tuberculosis risk in the Romanian population, according to gender and age, exploiting spatial modeling techniques of time series data. Through spatial autocorrelation, the degree of similarity between the analyzed territorial systems was highlighted and the relationships that are built between the analysis units in spatial proximity were investigated...

Encapsulating metal nanoparticles inside carbon layers is a promising approach to simultaneously improving the activity and stability of electrocatalysts. The role of carbon layer shells, however, is not fully understood. Herein, we report a study of boron doped carbon layers coated on nickel nanoparticles (Ni@BC), which were used as a model catalyst to understand the role of a bridging oxygen in a carbon shell coated Ni interface for the improvement of the hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) activity using an alkaline electrolyte...

Over the last years, new evidence has accumulated on multiple aspects of diagnosis and management of cerebral venous and dural sinus thrombosis (CVT) including identification of new risk factors, studies on interventional treatment as well as treatment with direct oral anticoagulants. Based on the GRADE questions of the European Stroke Organization guideline on this topic, the new German guideline on CVT is a consensus between expert representatives of Austria, Germany and Switzerland. New recommendations include:• CVT occurring in the first weeks after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination with vector vaccines may be associated with severe thrombocytopenia, indicating the presence of a prothrombotic immunogenic cause (Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia; VITT)...

OBJECTIVE: Smoking tobacco cigarettes negatively impacts bone healing after spinal fusion. Smoking history is often assessed based on current smoker and nonsmoker status. However, in current research, smoking history has not been quantified in terms of pack years to estimate lifetime exposure and assess its effects. Our goal was to investigate the influence of smoking history, quantified in pack years, on bony fusion after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). METHODS: A retrospective chart review of consecutive patients who underwent ACDF for cervical disc degeneration between September 21, 2017 and October 17, 2018 was conducted...

A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated XZ-24T , was isolated from sediment of a river in Mianyang city, Sichuan province, PR China. Cells (1.0-2.0 µm long and 0.4-0.5 µm in width) were strictly aerobic, non-spore-forming, rod shaped, prosthecate and motile by means of a polar flagellum. Growth occurred at 10-37 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0-3.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1.0 % NaCl). The results of phylogenetic analysis based on genomes and 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that XZ-24T formed a distinct phyletic branch within the family Caulobacteraceae and was most closely related to members of the genera Brevundimonas , Caulobacter and Phenylobacterium with 95...

Most Aristolochiaceae species studied so far are from temperate regions, bearing self-compatible protogynous trap flowers. Although self-incompatibility has been suggested for tropical species, the causes of self-sterility in this family remain unknown. To fill this gap, we studied the pollination of the tropical Aristolochia esperanzae, including the physical and physiological anti-selfing mechanisms. Floral visitors trapped inside flowers were collected to determine the pollinators. Protogyny was characterized by observing the temporal expression of sexual phases and stigmatic receptivity tests...

Although anti-citrullinated protein autoantibodies (ACPAs) are a hallmark serological feature of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the mechanisms and cellular sources behind the generation of the RA citrullinome remain incompletely defined. Peptidylarginine deiminase IV (PAD4), one of the key enzymatic drivers of citrullination in the RA joint, is expressed by granulocytes and monocytes; however, the subcellular localization and contribution of monocyte-derived PAD4 to the generation of citrullinated autoantigens remain underexplored...
