A major challenge in combining cancer immunotherapy is the efficient delivery of multiple types of immunological stimulators to elicit a robust anti-tumor immune response and reprogram the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). Here, we developed a DNA nanodevice that was generated by precisely assembling three types of immunological stimulators. The doxorubicin (Dox) component induced immunogenic cell death (ICD) in tumor cells and enhanced phagocytosis of antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Exogenous double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) could act as a molecular adjuvant to activate the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) signaling in APCs by engulfing dying tumor cells...

INTRODUCTION: Comminuted patella fractures comprise 55 % of patellar fractures. In spite of advances in internal fixation of patella, patellectomy remains an effective treatment in comminuted fractures. In the shadow of different efficient methods of internal fixation, little attention is paid to patellectomy as an old treatment in patellar fracture which is a treatment option in circumstances like comminuted fractures and osteomyelitis. PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 54-year-old male presented with complaint of knee pain and limited range of motion...

Diabetes and obesity are closely interlinked. Obesity is a major risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus and appears to be an important risk factor for diabetic micro- and macrovascular complications. Management of hyperglycaemia in people with diabetes is important to reduce diabetes-related complications. Previously, there was a significant tension between management of hyperglycaemia and mitigating weight gain. Older drugs, such as sulfonylureas, glitazones, and insulin, although effective antihyperglycaemic agents, tend to induce weight gain...

There has been an increasing demand for simultaneous detection of multiple analytes in one sample. Microbead-based platforms have been developed for multiplexed assays. However, most of the microbeads are made of non-biodegradable synthetic polymers, leading to environmental and human health concerns. In this study, we developed an environmentally friendly dextran microbeads as a new type of multi-analyte assay platform. Biodegradable dextran was utilized as the primary material. Highly uniform magnetic dextran microspheres were successfully synthesized using the Shirasu porous glass (SPG) membrane emulsification technique...

Tailoring the omnidirectional conductivity networks in nickel oxide-based electrodes is important for ensuring their long lifespan, stability, high capacity, and high-rate capability. In this study, nickel metal nanoparticles and a three-dimensional nitrogen-doped carbon matrix were used to embellish the nickel oxide composite NiO-Ni/N-C via simplified hard templating. When a porous nitrogen-doped carbon matrix is present, a rapid pathway would be established for charging and discharging the electrons and lithium ions in a lithium-ion battery, thereby alleviating the volumetric expansion of the NiO nanoparticles during the operation of the battery...

All-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs) are considered promising energy storage systems due to their high energy density and inherent safety. However, scalable fabrication of ASSLBs based on transition metal sulfide cathodes through the conventional powder cold-pressing method with ultrahigh stacking pressure remains challenging. This article elucidates a dry process methodology for preparing flexible and high-performance FeS2 -based ASSLBs under low stack pressure by utilizing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) binder...

Interferon (IFN) contributes to the host's antiviral response by inducing IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs). However, their functional targets and the mechanism of action remain elusive. Here, we report that one such ISG, TRIM21, interacts with and degrades the TRPV2 channel in myeloid cells, reducing its expression and providing host protection against viral infections. Moreover, viral infection upregulates TRIM21 in paracrine and autocrine manners, downregulating TRPV2 in neighboring cells to prevent viral spread to uninfected cells...

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Physiotherapy interventions for headache mostly include exercise and manual therapy. Yet, the complex nature of headache, sometimes characterized by symptoms of facilitated central pain mechanisms, demands an individualized approach in which therapeutic patient education could be supportive. This scoping review aimed to summarize the position of therapeutic patient education within the physiotherapy management of adults with headache. Fiber-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composites have been largely used to strengthen existing concrete and masonry structures in the last decade. To design FRCM-strengthened members, the provisions of the Italian CNR-DT 215 (2018) or the American ACI 549.4R and 6R (2020) guidelines can be adopted. According to the former, the FRCM effective strain, i.e., the composite strain associated with the loss of composite action, can be obtained by combining the results of direct shear tests on FRCM-substrate joints and of tensile tests on the bare reinforcing textile...

The research and development of alternatives to long-chain fluorocarbon surfactants are desperately needed because they are extremely toxic, difficult to break down, seriously harm the environment, and limit the use of conventional aqueous film-forming foam fire extinguishing agents. In this study, mixed surfactant systems containing the short-chain fluorocarbon surfactant perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHX A) and the hydrocarbon surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) were investigated by molecular dynamics simulation to investigate the microscopic properties at the air/water interface at different molar ratios...

BACKGROUND: Clinicians traditionally aim to identify a singular explanation for the clinical presentation of a patient; however, in some cases, the diagnosis may remain elusive or fail to comprehensively explain the clinical findings. In recent years, advancements in next-generation sequencing, including whole-exome sequencing, have led to the incidental identification of dual diagnoses in patients. Perylene diimides (PDI) are widely used in photocatalytic oxygen evolution due to their deep valence band potentials. Here, we report the synthesis of a unique supramolecular photocatalyst (designated s-PDI-P1) by introducing hydroxyl and carboxyl groups at the imide position of PDI. This modification allows the formation of intermolecular double hydrogen bond structures between the hydroxyl groups, oxygen atoms on the perylene cores and the carboxyl groups. The resulting double hydrogen bonding structures reduce lateral slip and promote the formation of supramolecular structures with H-type π-π stacking...
