Chipilin ( Crotalaria longirostrata ) is consumed as a vegetable in the preparation of traditional dishes. As a folk medicine, Chipilin extracts are used as a hypnotic and sedative agent; however, there are few reports that support these uses. This study aimed to characterize the compounds present in Chipilin leaf extracts and to investigate their sedative effect using zebrafish as an in vivo model. Extracts were obtained by maceration with water (H2 O), ethanol (EtOH), and EtOH-H2 O, while oleoresin was obtained by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE)...

Multifunctional molecules responsive to light are highly desired as components for the construction of remotely controlled nanodevices. Here we present a DyIII single molecule magnet (SMM) comprising dithienylethene (dte) photochromic bridging ligands in the form of a pyridine (py) derivative: 1,2-bis((2-methyl-5-pyridyl)thie-3-yl)perfluorocyclo-pentene (dtepy). The title trinuclear compound {[DyIII (BHT)3 ]3 (dtepy)2 }·4C5 H12 (1) was synthesized by combining the low-coordinate dysprosium complexes DyIII (BHT)3 (BHT = 2,6-di- tert -butyl-4-methylphenolate) with dtepy bridging ligands in the 'open' form using n -pentane as a completely inert solvent...

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) affects up to 70% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and type I interferons (IFNs) are important promoters of SLE and CLE. Our previous work identified IFN-kappa (IFN-κ), a keratinocyte-produced type I IFN, as upregulated in non-lesional and lesional lupus skin and as a critical regulator for enhanced UVB-mediated cell death in SLE keratinocytes. Importantly, the molecular mechanisms governing regulation of IFN-κ expression have been relatively unexplored...

Seeking high-performance photoresist is an important item for semiconductor industry due to the continuous miniaturization and intelligentization of integrated circuits. Polymer resin containing carbonate group has many desirable properties, such as high transmittance, acid sensitivity and chemical formulation, thus serving as potential photoresist material. In this work, a series of aqueous developable CO2-sourced polycarbonate (CO2-PC) were produced via alternating copolymerization of CO2 and epoxides bearing acid-cleavable cyclic acetal groups in the presence of tetranuclear organoborane catalyst...

Investigating pesticide exposure and oxidative stress in preschool children is essential for elucidating the determinants of environmental health in early life, with human biomonitoring of urinary pesticide metabolites serving as a critical strategy for achieving this objective. This study demonstrated biomonitoring of 2 phenoxyacetic acid herbicides, 2 organophosphorus pesticide metabolites, and 4 pyrethroid pesticide metabolites in 159 preschool children and evaluated their association with oxidative stress biomarker 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine...

A comprehensive study was undertaken to examine the contamination of spotted scat fish (Scatophagus argus) with microplastics (MP) in various locations along the East Java coast of Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to collect detailed information regarding the abundance, color, shape, size, type of polymer, and chemical components of the MP. The findings of this study indicated that MP exhibiting distinct attributes-including a specific fiber type, black coloration, and a size range of 1000- <5000 μm-was most abundant in the gill, stomach, and intestines of Spotted scat fish of varying lengths...

Among the thousands of chemicals threatening human health, the highly concerning groups prevalent in the environment and detected in biological monitoring in the general population ought to be prioritized because of their high exposure risks. In this study, we investigated the hydrolytic condensation of 3-aminopropyldiethoxymethylsilane over different superacid catalysts. We found that cyclic tetrasiloxanes with different stereostructures (Am-CyTS-NNf2 and Am-CyTS-NHf2 ) could be selectively prepared in high yields (>95%) depending on the superacid catalyst employed (bis(nonafluorobutanesulfonyl)imide or cyclohexafluoropropane-1,3-bis(sulfonyl)imide). The single-crystal X-ray structural analyses of compounds in which amino groups of Am-CyTS-NNf2 and Am-CyTS-NHf2 were protected by the tert -butoxycarbonyl group revealed the formation of all- cis and cis - trans - cis cyclic tetrasiloxanes, respectively...

Using single-crystal to single-crystal solid/gas reactivity the gold(I) acetylene complex [Au(L1)(η2-HC≡CH)][BArF4] is cleanly synthesized by addition of acetylene gas to single crystals of [Au(L1)(CO)][BArF4] [L1 = tris-2-(4,4'-di-tert-butylbiphenyl)phosphine, ArF = 3,5-(CF3)2C6H3]. This simplest gold-alkyne complex has been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy and periodic DFT. Accumulated alterations in metabolic control provide energy and anabolic demands for enhanced cancer cell proliferation. Exemplified by the Warburg effect, changes in glucose metabolism during cancer progression are widely recognized as a characteristic of metabolic disorders. Since telomerases are a vital factor in maintaining DNA integrity and stability, any damage threatening telomerases could have a severe impact on DNA and, subsequently, whole-cell homeostasis. However, it remains unclear whether the regulation of glucose metabolism in cancer is connected to the regulation of telomerase...

Mucosal melanoma exhibits limited responsiveness to anti-PD-1 therapy. However, a subgroup of mucosal melanomas, particularly those situated at specific anatomical sites like primary malignant melanoma of the esophagus (PMME), display remarkable sensitivity to anti-PD-1 treatment. Herein, we report an aggregation-induced delayed ECL (AIDECL) active organic dot (OD) composed of a tert -butoxy-group-substituted benzophenone-dimethylacridine compound, which shows high ECL efficiency. The resultant ODs exhibit 2.1-fold higher ECL efficiency compared to control AIDECL-active ODs. Molecular stacking combined with theoretical calculations suggests that tert -butoxy groups effectively participate in the intermolecular interactions, further inhibiting the molecular motions in the aggregated states and thus accelerating radiative decay...
