OBJECTIVE: To investigate the liver pathological characteristics and the clearance rate of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) with antiviral treatment for 1 to 7 years old children with heptitis B e antigen(HBeAg)-negative chronic hepatitis B. METHOD: A total of 49 cases with HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B were treated with interferon (IFN) or IFN treatment for 6 months added with lamivudine, and were followed up for at least 6 months.Retrospective analysis was performed on the liver pathological characteristics, the efficacy of antivirus treatment and its influencing factors of the HBsAg clearance rate in the cases from June 2006 to December 2013 in the 302 Hospital of People's Liberation Army...

The tumor suppressor gene CD82, also known as KAI1, may act as a general suppressor of metastasis in numerous types of cancer. It is hypothesized that downregulation of CD82 gene expression may be an important factor in the induction of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), however the mechanism for this requires further study. In the present study, the relative mRNA and protein expression levels of the CD82 gene were determined in HCC and adjacent non‑tumor tissues. The association between the CD82 gene and the hepatitis B virus (HBV) was also investigated, by quantitative polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, luciferase reporter assays and mass spectrometry with matrix‑assisted laser desorption/ionization time‑of‑flight mass array...

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the mutation patters of HBV P gene and genotyping of heptitis B virus in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) after the emergence of drug-resistance during lamivudine (LAM) therapy. METHODS: LAM-resistant mutations and genotype of HBV were dectected in patients with LAM-resistant CHB in our hospital from Sep. 2008 to June. 2010. RESULT: 107 patients had 8 mutation patterns. YMDD mutations happened in 100%, only YMDD mutation were 43 patients, while others were YMDD combined with rtL180M mutations; the HBV genotype among 107chronic hepatitis was mainly B (25...

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association of heptitis B virus (HBV) genotypes and precore(PreC)/basal core promoter(BCP) mutation with interruption failure of HBV vaccination in mother-to-infant transmission. METHODS: A total number of 208 serum samples were collected from infants and mothers, including 16 infants who had become HBsAg-positive despite a complete and timely course of immunization and another 88 infants successfully protected from mother-to infant HBV transmission...

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Lamivudine, a nucleoside analogue has been widely used as an effective antiviral agent for the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B infection. However, the YMDD motif mutation of HBV polymerase resistant to lamivudine very frequently occurs after long-term use of lamivudine. It is well known that the mutation is selected by the lamivudine. We hypothesized that a few mutant strains of YMDD motif are present as quasispacies before the lamivudine treatment, are selected by the treatment, and breakthrough during treatment...
