A photo-responsive liposome was developed by loading 7-acetoxy coumarin (ATC) in egg phosphatidylcholine (EPC) liposome. ATC was derivetized from 7-hydroxy coumarin using sodium acetate. The ATC-loaded liposomes were prepared by suspending the dry mixture film of ATC/EPC in distilled water and sonicating the suspension. When the ATC to EPC ratio was less than 1:8, homogeneous liposomal suspensions were obtained without any precipitate. On 1H NMR spectra, the unsaturated chains of liposomal EPCs were somewhat deteriorated by a subsequent irradiation, the irradiation of lambda = 365 nm and then the irradiation of lambda = 254 nm...

Fullerenes are chemical structures made of carbon atoms. The stable form is molecule composed of 60 carbon atoms arranged in a soccer ball-shaped structure. With respect to its electron donor and acceptor capability and photochemical behavior fullerenes can be effective antioxidants and radical scavengers or prooxidants and photosensitizers. Forty-five samples from 1988-1995 of naturally contaminated grain, barley, wheat and oats, three samples of mixed feed, and 16 samples of grain artificially inoculated with Fusarium culmorum during the flowering stage were analysed for deoxynivalenol (DON), 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol (3-acetyl-DON), culmorin and hydroxy-culmorins. These compounds are secondary metabolites produced by the fungal species F. culmorum and F. graminearum. The neutral lipids of nine species of methanogenic bacteria including five methanobacilli, two methanococci, a methanospirillum, one methanosarcina as well as two thermoacidophilic bacteria, Thermoplasma and Sulfolobus, were analyzed. The major components were C30, C25 and/or C20 acylic isoprenoid hydrocarbons with a continuous range of hydroisoprenoid homologues. The range of acyclic isoprenoids detected were from C14 to C30.
