A reliable way to determine the purity of the kinetically precipitated, noncrystalline lacunary polyoxoanion alpha-P(2)W(15)O(56)(12-) has been developed, namely, the conversion of alpha-P(2)W(15)O(56)(12-) into the tri-Nb(5+)- and V(5+)-containing polyoxoanions P(2)W(15)Nb(3)O(62)(9-) and P(2)W(15)V(3)O(62)(9-), respectively, followed by quantitative analysis of their purity by (31)P-NMR prior to recrystallization. Bacillus pumilus PS213 was found to be able to release acetate from acetylated xylan. The enzyme catalyzing this reaction has been purified to homogeneity and characterized. Intramedullary metastases are uncommon. We report two cases in patients with small cell bronchogenic cancer. The clinical diagnosis was supported by T1 magnetic resonance imaging after gadolinium injection. Adenovirus(ADV) mediated thymidine kinase(TK) gene therapy followed by ganciclovir(GCV) administration is widely used in different types of cancer. Usually, schwannomas of the eight nerve arise from the vestibular nerve. Yet, the authors have operated from September 1993 to September 1995 three neuromas whose origin is certainly the cochlear nerve. Surgery was performed by retro-sigmoid approach magnified by endoscopic procedure of the cerebello-pontine angle before and after removing the tumor. We report here the cases and the literature is documented. Similar cases of observing cochlear neuromas at the moment of the procedure are exceptional. A standard validation protocol adapted to the chromogenic assay of anti-Xa activity of low-molecular-weight heparins was used in a multicenter study to assess its suitability for comparing and evaluating analytical hemostasis systems. Jugular venous oxygen saturation (SjvO2) measures the balance between cerebral oxygen delivery and cerebral oxygen consumption. Abnormalities that increase oxygen consumption (e.g., fever or seizures) or that decrease oxygen delivery (e.g., increased ICP, hypotension, hypoxia, hypocapnia, or anemia) can decrease SjvO2. Reported baseline findings from the neurological assessment component of the Hemophilia Growth and Development Study (HGDS).
