Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common condition mainly affecting postmenopausal women, characterized by the descent of pelvic organs through the vaginal canal. While often asymptomatic, POP can manifest with various symptoms such as a painless bulge or pressure sensation, abdominal pain, urinary complaints, and discomfort during intercourse. Severe cases can lead to urinary tract obstruction, hydronephrosis, and renal dysfunction. This case study presents an elderly female with bilateral severe hydronephrosis and pyelonephritis due to undiagnosed POP...

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Large Anterior vaginal cysts can manifest as symptomatic genital prolapse, posing a diagnostic challenge due to their uncommon clinical presentation. CASE PRESENTATION: A 22-year-old primiparous woman with no previous medical history is admitted for delivery. Examination revealed a cystic mass on the anterior vaginal wall. Perineal ultrasound confirmed an independent cyst measuring 45x40x35 mm. The cyst was successfully aspirated, and the patient delivered without complications...

BACKGROUND: Multispecialty management should be the preferred approach for the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, as there is often multicompartmental prolapse. OBJECTIVE: To assess the safety of combined robotic ventral-mesh rectopexy and either uterine or vaginal fixation for treatment of multicompartmental pelvic organ prolapse at our institution. DESIGN: Retrospective analysis. SETTINGS: Tertiary referral academic center...

BACKGROUND: Dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the pelvic floor plays a key role in imaging complex pelvic floor dysfunction. The simultaneous detection of multiple findings in a complex anatomic setting renders correct analysis and clinical interpretation challenging. OBJECTIVES: The most important aspects (anatomy of the pelvic floor, three compartment model, morphological and functional analysis, reporting) for a successful clinical use of dynamic MRI of the pelvic floor are summarized...

(1) Background: Treating female pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is challenging. Surgical meshes have been used in transvaginal surgeries since the 1990s, but complications such as mesh exposure and infection have been reported. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) mesh, known for its stability and non-reactive properties, has shown promise in urogynecological surgeries. (2) Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 27 patients who underwent a modified PVDF vaginal mesh repair procedure using DynaMesh® -PR4 and combined trans-obturator and sacrospinous fixation techniques...

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Little is known about the impact of native tissue repair techniques on heterosexual intercourse. This study was aimed at investigating the effect of anterior colporrhaphy on women's and their partners' sexual function. METHODS: Sexually active women with a male partner who were diagnosed with anterior wall prolapse without any incontinence were prospectively recruited from a single academic center. Demographic data were collected and a Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification examination was performed...

UNLABELLED: The anterior wall of the vagina is very rich in nerves, blood vessels, and exocrine glands. This anatomical region is related to female sexual desire. During the anterior colporrhaphy operation, dissection of the anterior vaginal wall causes damage to this area, which may lead to decreased sexual satisfaction. In the present study, we aimed to investigate sexual function after anterior vaginal wall surgery. METHODS: Totally 89 patients who had undergone the anterior colporrhaphy operation between May 2021 and December 2021 were included in the study...

Pure uterine lipomas are extremely rare benign uterine tumors. This paper presents the case of a 68-year-old patient with symptomatic leiomyoma-like fundus formation on ultrasound. A hysterectomy was performed with anterior vaginal plastic surgery as a treatment option for concomitant cystocele grade II. Histological diagnosis of pure uterine lipoma with S-100 positive immunohistochemical staining was confirmed. This case shows us that uterine lipoma clinically and diagnostically mimics myoma very well. We believe that surgery as a therapeutical approach is justified in symptomatic patients...

INTRODUCTION: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) occurs due to disruption of the pelvic floor anatomy; however, the complexity of the pelvic floor support structures and individual patient differences make it difficult to identify the weak points in the pelvic floor support that cause SUI to occur, develop, and recur. This study aimed to analyze the pelvic floor anatomy, structural features, and biomechanics of cystoceles to develop more effective treatment plans with individualized and precise healthcare...

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is the downward displacement of pelvic organs. The condition is very common in women and negatively affects their quality of life. The aging process reflects in the form of structural and functional weakness of the pelvic floor which leads to pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD). The strength and endurance of the Pelvic floor muscles (PFM) decrease significantly by these dysfunctions. In the present study, Pelvic floor strength (PFS) and endurance were assessed with the help of a perineometer...

Cystoceles are the most common prolapses. Limitation of the use of synthetic mesh has led to the comeback of native tissue repair procedures. We have developed a new transobturator technique with native tissue based on a mix of a vaginal plastron technique and the transobturator procedure. We present the functional and anatomical mid-term results. In this retrospective study, the vaginal plastron technique and the transobturator procedure were performed in 32 patients. Functional assessment with several validated quality-of-life questionnaires (SF-12, PFIQ-7, PFDI-20, PISQ12) and anatomical evaluation with pelvic examination were performed at 1, 6, and 12 months after surgery...

BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic mesh sacrohysteropexy has been established as an effective, safe, and popular technique to treat uterine prolapse. Nevertheless, recent controversies regarding the role of synthetic mesh in pelvic reconstructive surgery have triggered a trend towards meshless procedures. Other laparoscopic native tissue prolapses techniques such as uterosacral ligament plication and sacral suture hysteropexy have been previously described in literature. OBJECTIVES: To describe a meshless minimally invasive technique with uterine preservation, which incorporates steps from the above-mentioned procedures...

This study was performed with 250 women participants. Female Sexual Function Index and examination form were used to determine pelvic organ prolapse and its severity and type based on POP-Q. Our results showed the difference between the mean performance score in the dimensions of desire ( p  = .19), lubrication ( p  = .08), orgasm (0...

We performed a retrospective, observational, before-and-after study at Lille University Medical Center (Lille, France) by including consecutive patients operated on between 2011 and 2018 for UpholdTM mesh insertion and between 2018 to 2020 for anterior sacrospinous ligament fixation...
