Caesarean scar pregnancy is one of the rarest forms of ectopic pregnancy. Transvaginal ultrasound and color flow Doppler provides a high diagnostic accuracy. A delay in diagnosis and treatment can lead to uterine rupture, major hemorrhage, hysterectomy and serious maternal morbidity and mortality. Early diagnosis can offer treatment options of avoiding uterine rupture and hemorrhage, thus preserving the uterus and future fertility. Primary health care provider should know about this rare entity, because if diagnosed timely, and referral to specialized centre is done without delay will definitely save maternal morbidity and mortality...

While joint aspiration and crystal identification by polarizing microscopy remain the gold standard for diagnosing tophaceous gout, agreement among medical and ancillary health personnel examining synovial fluid using polarizing microscopy for the detection of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals appears to be poor. Imaging modalities, including conventional radiography (CR), ultrasonography (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and dual-energy computed tomography (DECT), have been found to provide information on the deposition of MSU crystals in tissues, and the consequences of such deposition...

OBJECTIVES: Intrathyroid metastases from extrathyroid primary tumors are rare. Clinical findings may be subtle, but detection of intrathyroid metastases has improved with sonography. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sonographic appearance of intrathyroid metastases. METHODS: Patients with thyroid masses with cytopathologic features matching those of an extrathyroid primary tumor were retrospectively identified. The appearances of intrathyroid metastases on sonography were reviewed for the following features: size, margin regularity, echogenicity, echotexture, vascularity on power or color Doppler ultrasonography, and the presence or absence of any associated cervical adenopathy...

Multiparametric testicular ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings were analyzed in a series of 10 infertile asymptomatic men presenting with pathologically confirmed burned-out testicular tumors. Color/power Doppler ultrasound (CDUS), shear wave elastography (SWE), contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS), and MRI were performed on 10, 5, 6, and 7 patients, respectively. All lesions appeared as a hypoechoic and hypovascular nodular area at CDUS, SWE, CEUS CDUS, and CEUS (if performed). Shear wave elastography showed a stiffer nodular area compared with the surrounding/contralateral tissues (13 versus 2 kPa); MRI revealed a well-delineated nodular area in hypointense signal on T2, a high apparent diffusion coefficient value, and a lack of enhancement...

Recent studies have suggested that intracardiac vortex flow imaging could be of clinical interest to early diagnose the diastolic heart function. Doppler vortography has been intro-duced as a simple color Doppler method to detect and quantify intraventricular vortices. This method is able to locate a vortex core based on the recognition of an antisymmetric pattern in the Doppler velocity field. Because the heart is a fast-moving organ, high frame rates are needed to decipher the whole blood vortex dynamics during diastole...

BACKGROUND: Doppler images of pulmonary vessels in pulmonary diseases associated with subpleural consolidations have been described. Color Doppler easily identifies such vessels within consolidations while spectral Doppler analysis allows the differentiation between pulmonary and bronchial arteries. Thus, Doppler helps in diagnosing the nature of consolidations. To our knowledge, Doppler analysis of pulmonary vessels within anesthesia-induced atelectasis has never been described before...

This study investigates shear wave phase map reconstruction using a limited number of color flow images (CFIs) acquired with a color Doppler ultrasound imaging instrument. We propose an efficient reconstruction method to considerably reduce the number of CFIs required for reconstruction and compare this method with Fourier analysis-based color Doppler shear wave imaging. The proposed method uses a two-step phase reconstruction process, including an initial phase map derived from four CFIs using an advanced iterative algorithm of optical interferometry...

Profunda femoris artery aneurysms (PFAA) are very rare and easily overlooked because located deeply within thigh muscle. PFAAs have a high rate of rupture in comparison with other peripheral arterial aneurysms, resulting in emergency surgical procedures with significant morbidity. PFAAs is diagnosed with color arterial Doppler ultrasound, although computed tomography angiography (CTA) remains the best imaging method to precisely define the exact site and length of arterial involvement. PFAAs should be treated surgically once diagnosed, even if they are asymptomatic due to the high incidence of complications...
