Purpose of the study was to develop techniques of controlled myorelaxation during surgeries in patients with aldosteroma. 46 patients were involved in the study. Adrenalectomy was performed by videoendoscopy from retroperitoneal access. All patients were operated under general anaesthesia with sevoflurane with obligate monitoring of neuromuscular conduction (NMC). Patients were divided into 4 groups. Myorelaxation in patients of the group 1 (n = 14) was performed by continuous infusion of 0.4 mg/kg/hr rocuronium bromide (esmeron)...

We investigated the effect of intravenous premedication with single dose of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on volatile anesthetic induction time and sevoflurane requirements of anesthesia maintenance in adults by monitoring the bispectral index (BIS). Sixty adult patients with status of ASA I-II undergoing general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation were randomly divided into two groups: The first group; a control group (group C, n = 30) and the second group; DEX group (group D, n = 30). Each patient in group D was premedicated with intravenous DEX 0...

The study enrolled 30 patients aged 2 to 18 years, who had been operated on at the Prof A. L. Polenov Russian Neurosurgical Institute in 2008-2009. The patients had undergone total intravenous anesthesia with the opioid analgesic fentanyl (3.5 microg/kg x hr), the central alpha 2-adrenoblocker clofelin (1.2 microg/kg x hr), recofol (3 mg/kg x hr) under myorelaxation (arduan, esmeron) and artificial ventilation. Assessment of a neuroendocrine response and postoperative analgesia levels by the physiological and self-appraisal scales showed the high efficacy of pre-emptive analgesia using paracetamol in the complex of multicomponent anesthesia using the central alpha 2-adrenoblocker clofelin...

PURPOSE: After the influence of different actions on the blood, the erythrocytes may change their macrostructure. At the same time, the microstructure of cell membrane will be changed as well. This study provides the results of comparison of red blood cell membrane microstructure after they have been affected by different factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Images and spatial profiles of the cell surface were obtained by atomic force microscope. It was proposed to use spatial Fourier transform to decompose the initial complex profile into series of simple ones...

This study has evaluated the efficacy and safety of different doses of Esmerone in children under fluorothane anesthesia. It enrolled 85 children from a senior age group (7-14 years). According to the myorelaxant used, all the patients were divided into 2 groups: S and R. In the S group (n=25), myoplegia was carried out administering succinylcholine in a dose of 1 mg/kg. In the R group, myorelaxation was achieved using rocuronium bromide (Esmerone). According to the dose used, the group was divided into 3 subgroups, each comprising 20 patients...

A sensitive and selective HPLC method with amperometric detection (HPLC-ED) for the determination of rocuronium bromide and its eight impurities has been developed. The analysis was performed on Hypersil 100 Silica column 5 microm (250 mm x 4.6 mm; Thermo Electron). The mobile phase consisting of 4.53 g l(-1) solution of tetramethylammonium hydroxide adjusted to pH 7.4 with 85% phosphoric acid:acetonitrile (1:9), was found the best for the separation and determination of the studied compounds. The chromatograms were recorded over 10 min using the amperometric detection at a potential +0...

AIMS: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of propofol sedation combined with sub-Tenon's anaesthesia for strabismus surgery in adults. METHODS: Thirty-two consecutive patients aged 31-85 years underwent strabismus surgery under general (n=16) or local (n=16) anaesthesia. In the local anaesthesia (study) group, sedation was induced with a loading dose of midazolam, fentanyl, and propofol, followed by continuous infusion of propofol, 3-6 mg/k/h to deep sedation. A nasal tube was inserted to prevent airway obstruction...

BACKGROUND: Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors are widely used for the reversal of neuromuscular blocking agents. However, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors have several side effects and are not effective during profound block. Org 25969 is a modified gamma-cyclodextrin that encapsulates the neuromuscular blocking agent, rocuronium bromide (Esmeron/Zemuron, NV Organon, Oss, The Netherlands), forming a tightly bound complex with an association constant of approximately 10 m. Chemical encapsulation of rocuronium promotes dissociation of rocuronium from the acetylcholine receptor, thereby reversing the neuromuscular block without the side effects associated with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors...

The study was undertaken to examine the myoplegic, hemodynamic, and histamine-releasing effects of the new aminosteroidal myorelaxant Rocuronium (esmerone, Organon firm) used to maintain anesthesia in cardiac surgical patients by orienting to early tracheal extubation. Twenty two patients aged 50 +/- 3 years operated on under extracorporeal circulation were examined. At the initial stage of maintenance, the agent in a dose of 0.6 mg/kg failed to affect cardiac pump function and to elevate plasma histamine levels...

The electromyographic and hemodynamic profile and side effects of the new nondepolarizing myorelaxants Mivacurium chloride (Mivacron), Cisathracurium besilate (Nimbex), Rocuronium bromide (Esmerone) were studied in 117 adult patients. All the test myorelaxants as bolus or infusion in a dose of 3.ED95 were found to be effective in creating adequate conditions for tracheal intubation and neuromuscular block (NMB) maintenance during operations on the coronary arteries and cardiac vales under extracorporeal circulation...

Drug induced anaphylaxis is frequently attributed to the use of muscle relaxants during anaesthesia. Recently The Norwegian Medicines Agency recommended that rocuronium bromide (Esmeron) be withdrawn from routine practice due to frequent reports of anaphylaxis. Over a period of two and a half years approximately 150,000 patients received rocuronium as part of their anaesthesia. In this period the Norwegian drug authorities received 29 reports of anaphylaxis or anaphylactoid reactions in patients treated with rocuronium...
