The authors present the case history of a patient suffering from hyperthyroidism. The diagnostic procedures revealed the presence of propylthiouracyl induced vasculitis with renal involvement, that recovered completely after the withdrawal of propylthiouracyl and corticosteroid treatment. The luminance mechanisms of the white organic light-emitting devices (WOLEDs) with a charge generation layer (CGL) consisting of a tungsten oxide layer and a 5,6,11,12-tetraphenyltetracene (rubrene) doped N,N',-bis-(1-naphthyl)-N,N'-diphenyl1-1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (NPB) layer were investigated. A protective effect of lithium chloride (LC) in thermal ischemia of the kidney of different duration was studied in rats. LC efficacy was estimated by functional activity of ischemic kidney in early and late reperfusion period, by damage to mitochondria of tubular epithelial cells and production of active oxygen forms (AOF) and nitric oxide (NO). LC has a marked anti-ischemic effect. In thermal renal ischemia for 40 and 60 min LC provides functional safety of the ischemic organ. In longer ischemia, 50% of the animals died...

A practical method for routine patient dose monitoring when single, multiple, or adjacent fields are irradiated with supervoltage x rays is described. The system uses litium fluoride TL-700 extruded rods in small gelatin capsules. The mode of calculation is described and the experimental data for 33- and 45-MeV energy betatron x rays are presented. An example is given to illustrate the use of this technique (experimental uncertainty, 3%).

The effect of litium on the peripheral turnover of T4 and T3 was investigated in 14 euthyroid subjects using lymphocytes as target cells. Lithium caused a dose-dependent rise in T4 turnover, which did not lead to increased T3 production, but no rise in T3 turnover. A further 3 patients with lithium induced hypothyroidism were studied. Patients with high T4 turnover had high TSH values and in these patients lithium induced a decrease in T4 turnover. This may lead to the conclusion that the demonstrated effect of lithium in the control group did not cause the low T4 in these patients...
