Renal pseudotumour is a term coined to describe conditions of renal anatomic variants that simulate focal renal pathology like a tumour on ultrasonography. These include persistent fetal lobulation, hypertrophy of Bertin columns and dromedary humps. We report a case of a 30-year-old nulliparous woman who was managed in gynaecology clinic for menorrhagia and was subsequently referred to us for management of recurrent urinary tract infections. The clinical examination was normal and on ultrasound scan, she was found to have multiple enlarged heterogeneous solid masses in both kidneys with significantly increased vascularity, suspicious for neoplastic lesions...

BACKGROUND: Focal abnormalities most commonly acquired within the uterine cavity include endometrial polyps (arising from the endometrium) and submucous fibroids (arising from the myometrium). These benign abnormalities can cause several problems, including abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) and subfertility. Two-dimensional saline infusion sonography (2D SIS) is a minimally invasive test that can be used to diagnose these pathologies, but it is less accurate than hysteroscopy, which is a more invasive procedure by which an endoscope allows direct visualisation of the uterine cavity...

Mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma (MANEC) is a rare tumour of the gastrointestinal tract composed of adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine carcinoma. This pathologic diagnosis was recently defined by the WHO in 2010. The tumour may appear in various levels of the digestive tract including the oesophagus, stomach, colon and appendix. Biological behaviour of MANEC seems to be quite unpredictable and the prognosis uncertain. The disease may also mimic "simple" carcinoma. Only several tens of cases have been reported so far...

Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is defined as excessive menstrual blood loss (MBL) >80 mL per cycle, that interferes with a woman's physical, emotional, social wellbeing and quality of life. Aetiology is due to underlying uterine pathologies, coagulopathy, ovulation dysfunction, or iatrogenic. Up to 20% of women with HMB will have an underlying inherited bleeding disorder (IBD). Assessment of HMB should entail a menstrual and gynaecological history and a bleeding score to distinguish those women who require additional haematological investigations...

Ovarian cancer is the most common cause of gynaecological cancer-associated death; thus, promising biomarkers and new therapeutic targets for ovarian cancer must be explored. Here, we report that eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit D (EIF3D), a member of the EIF3 family, was overexpressed in ovarian cancer clinical tissues. Furthermore, the expression of EIF3D was correlated with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage and pathological differentiation stage. 3-(4,5-dimethylthylthiazol-2-yl)-2 (MTT) and colony formation assays revealed that the lentivirus-mediated knockdown of EIF3D suppresses cell proliferation in the ovarian tumour cell lines CAOV-3 and SKOV-3...
