In this paper we approach three clinical syndromes with different microbial agents that cause sexually transmitted diseases (STD) with a common condition: the symptomatology is in the genital area. Some of these microbial agents are transmitted strictly sexually, but not all. In this section we will discuss about vulvovaginitis, genital ulcers and human papilloma virus, three syndromes which have increased their incidence in recent years and primary care must know its management: diagnosis, correct treatment, controls, and study of sexual contacts...

The treatment of head and neck and salivary gland tumours is complicated and is constantly evolving. Prognostic and predictive indicators of response to treatment are enormously valuable for designing individualized therapies, which justifies their research and validation. Some biomarkers, such as p16, Epstein-Barr virus, PD-L1, androgen receptors and HER-2, are already used routinely in clinical practice. These biomarkers, along with other markers that are currently under development, and the massively parallel sequencing of genes, ensure future advances in the treatment of these neoplasms...

INTRODUCTION: Anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN) is a premalignant lesion of anal squamous cell carcinoma. HIV-positive males who have sex with males, are the most affected at-risk population. Cytology and anuscopy are the best accepted methods for its diagnosis, although it is controversial which patients should complete it with a biopsy. Neither which patients should undergo treatment nor which is the best treatment is not well established. With this study, we would like to present our experience in the diagnostic-therapeutic management of AIN in the short term...

INTRODUCTION: Inverted urothelial papilloma is a very rare neoplasm in the pediatric population. Because of the low incidence of cases and the reports of atypical components, the management and follow-up plan is not standardized. OBJECTIVE: To report a case of inverted papilloma in a female adolescent and to review the diagnostic approach, management, and follow-up plan for this entity. CLINICAL CASE: We reported a case of inverted papilloma as an incidental finding of a polypoid lesion on bladder ultrasound in a 13-year-old adolescent...

METHODS: Cross sectional study that included patients between 30 and 65 years of age with a new diagnosis of cervical dysplasia by histopathology attended in two lower genital tract colposcopy and pathology units (one public and one private institution), conducted between December 2017 and April 2019...

Introduction: Cervical cancer is a malignancy originating in the transformation zone of the cervix, most commonly in the squamous cells. It is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide, and the third most common cause of female cancer death. Genital human papilloma viruses (HPV) are sexually transmitted and approximately 630 milion people worldwide are infected. More than 200 genotypes, subtypes and variants have been reported, 13-15 being oncogenic type, which could be responsible for cervical intraepithelial lesions (CIN) or cancer...

The inverted sino-nasal papilloma is a benign epithelial lesion, ranging from 1% to 5% of the tumors that reside in this area. It is characterized by a tendency towards local bone destruction, recurrence and malignant transformation. This is a presentation of two cases diagnosed and surgically treated for malignant inverted papiloma, which started in the epithelium of the maxillary sinuses. The cases had in common the late presentation of the patient to the surgeon, thus the local destruction was significant with extension towards the eye socket and the base of the skull...

The aims of the present study were to investigate the expression of minichromosome maintenance complex component 7 (MCM7) and determine its association with tumor proliferation and invasion in pathological tumor (pT)a and pT1 papillary urothelial neoplasia. The MCM7, MCM3 and Ki67 proteins were detected in 154 cases of urothelial neoplasia using immunohistochemical analysis. The expression of MCM7 significantly increased (P<0.001) as the pathological stage and grade progressed between inverted papilloma, papillary urothelial neoplasm of low malignant potential (PUNLMP), pTa tumor and pT1 tumor...

This article deals with anogenital warts (AGW) injuries caused by human papiloma virus (HPV) in children. Diagnosis, epidemiology, modes of transmission, differential diagnosis, relationship between AGW and cancer are descript. Also, it remarks the presence of AGW as indicator of child sexual abuse. Finally, it includes suggestions for the management of patients and their families by the paediatrician.

During laryngomicroscopy, the superficial layers of vocal fold epithelium can be examined in vivo and in situ by contact endoscopy. Methylene blue is applied initially to stain the epihelial cells of the vocal folds. When in contact with mucosal tissue, this endoscope provides 60 and 150 times magnification and clear visualization of cellular patterns of the superficial epithelial layers. For the first time in our laryngological clinical practice, we confirmed a number of previosly established parametars such as regularity and arrangement of the epithelium, nucleus contour, and nucleus-cytoplasm ratio, what all enable recognition and easy evaluation of different clinical conditions such as chronic laryngitis, Reinke's edema, papiloma dysplasia or vocal fold carcinoma...

Tumors of the lacrimal sac are rare. Benign papillomas comprise approximately 40% of all neoplasms of the lacrimal drainage system. They often present insidiously with symptoms of dacryostenosis or dacryocystitis. Recurrent bouts of dacryocystitis and nasolacrimal duct obstruction were reported in a 35-year-old man over a period of 13 years. A medial canthal mass was noted in the 6th year after the onset of symptoms. A tumor was discovered incidentally during surgical intervention for presumed dacryostenosis...
