PURPOSE: To assess the positive effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on the structural and functional outcomes of patients with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR). METHODS: This study included 60 patients with CSCR who were randomly allocated to one of two groups: MBSR or control (which did not practice MBSR). These groups were then evaluated in terms of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central macular thickness (CMT) at months 1, 3, and 6...

Non-dieting approaches, including mindful/intuitive eating, to health improvement are of increasing interest, yet little is known about young adults' social media exposure to them. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the imagery related to mindful/intuitive eating which is visible to young adult Instagram users. Images categorized under the hashtags 'mindfuleating' and 'intuitiveeating' were searched in September 2021 using the 'top posts' view. Screen captures of 1200 grid-view images per hashtag were used to construct coding frameworks and to determine saturation...

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: Obsessive compulsive disorder is a disorder of special relevance in mental health, however, not all patients respond adequately to traditional intervention systems. The present work aims to study the usefulness of mindfulness-based interventions in patients with obsessive compulsive disorder. METHOD: An exhaustive search of the literature between 1996 and 2021 allowed us to locate 11 published articles. The effect size was the pretest-posttest standardized mean change calculated for obsession-compulsion, as well as depression symptoms and conscious coping...

Background: Depression, anxiety, and disordered sleep are some common symptoms associated with sub-optimal mental health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health issues have grown increasingly more prevalent in the population. Due to social distancing and other limitations during the pandemic, there is a need for home-based, flexible interventions that can improve mental health. The Yoga of Immortals (YOI) mobile application provides a structured intervention that can be used on any mobile device and applied from the user's home...

BACKGROUND: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as a type of behavioral therapy, attempts to respond to changes in people's performance and their relationship to events. ACT can affect sleep quality by providing techniques to enhance the flexibility of patients' thoughts, yet maintaining mindfullness. Therefore, for the first time, a systematic review on the effects of ACT on sleep quality has been conducted. METHODS: This systematic review was performed to determine the effect of ACT on insomnia and sleep quality...

Long-term stress is a major and still rising public health problem, which is associated with increased risk of disease and mortality. In this review, we find that a systematic literature search of stress-reducing interventions tested in a randomised controlled trial (RCT)-design in Denmark showed, that interventions are only tested one or two times and only by the same research group. Furthermore, the international literature is not reviewed sufficiently before developing new interventions. Mindfulness-based stress reduction is a well-tested stress-reducing intervention, which is tested in more than 100 RCTs...

From birth and throughout their development, babies discover their bodies, others and the world around them. During this process, their present sensitivity and capacities must be respected. The gradual acquisition of their skills and autonomy is favoured by the containment of the adult, both physically, emotionally and on a sensory level.
