In this article we review recent socialpsychological contributions to the metacognitive movement. It is argued that social psychologists have long contributed to the study of "thinking about thinking," even though their work has not yet been recognized as metacognitive. The present "expansionist" survey suggests that the domain of social metacognition should include (a) beliefs about one's own mental states and processes as well as beliefs about those of other people, (b) momentary sensations as well as enduring folk theories, and (c) descriptive beliefs about how the mind works and nonnative beliefs about how it ought to work...

In an exploratory study involving 818 pupils 12-16 years of age blood pressure, total serum cholesterol, and smoking behavior were studied. 38.3% of the boys (N = 154) and 47.3% of the girls (N = 143) aged 15-16 demonstrated singular or combined elevated risk variables, cigarette smoking being the most predominant risk factor. 44.5% of the pupils of this age group answered to be regular smokers. 59.8% (N = 183) of secondary school pupils stated to be regular smokers as compared to 15.7% (N = 166) of grammar school pupils...

In contrast to other existing studies, which mostly discuss the physical changes of human sexuality during age, this socialpsychological survey analyzes the existence and relevance of negative attitudes towards sexuality in old age and their relations to the sexual activity of older people.
