BACKGROUND: Bone metastases are frequent in patients with cancer. Electrochemotherapy (ECT) is a minimally invasive treatment based on a high-voltage electric pulse combined with an anticancer drug. Preclinical and clinical studies supported the use of ECT in patients with metastatic bone disease, demonstrating that it does not damage the mineral structure of the bone and its regenerative capacity, and that is feasible and efficient for the treatment of bone metastases. Year 2014 saw the start of a registry of patients with bone metastases treated with ECT, whose data are recorded in a shared database...

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: The penile metastasis is a rare clinical entity. The objective is to present the first documented case report of penile metastasis from right colon. CLINICAL CASE: A case of a 78-year-old man who was diagnosed with penile metastasis from right colon. The patient came to our consultation complaining of colic pain in the kidney and swelling of the penile which finally result in a malignant priapism. The diagnosis was histopathologic and was treated with chemotherapy and died few months later...

BACKGROUND: Extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is rare but fatal. Patients who come are usually already in the advanced stage that can not undergo curative resection and chemotherapy also seems to be very rarely done. The survival rate and its associated factors in Indonesia are unknown. This study aimed to identify 1-year survival of patients with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma without curative resection and palliative chemotherapy and its associated factors. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study using medical records of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (perihilar and distal) inpatient and outpatient patients at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta from January 2015 to March 2020, reviewed retrospectively...

Meningiomas are the most common primary central nervous system tumors, as they can account for up to one-third of all primary brain tumors. Most meningiomas are benign, although up to one-fourth of such tumors are classified as atypical or malignant. Atypical and malignant meningiomas are associated with an increased risk of local recurrence and decreased overall survival. Our patient is a 57-year-old male with a history of recurrent malignant meningioma, with metastasis to the liver. He underwent multiple surgical interventions, radiation treatments, and systemic therapies for a malignant meningioma, ultimately requiring transfer to hospice care...

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is almost always fatal in neonates unless it is palliated surgically. The conventional Norwood procedure with a Blalock-Taussig shunt or a Sano modification and a hybrid approach with branch pulmonary artery banding and ductal stenting are common surgical options. An alternate technique with a different strategy to restore pulmonary blood flow is described in this report.

BACKGROUND: The tumor-to-tumor metastasis is exclusively rare finding, in which one malignant neoplasia metastasizes to another tumor of different origin. CASE: The author describes an 68-year-old woman, who was found to have a solitary tumor in the right kidney, as well as multiple tumor nodules in the liver. She underwent a radical nephrectomy. A histology of lesion in the kidney revealed a conventional clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) harboring multiple metastatic foci of another adenocarcinoma...

BACKGROUND: Anorexia-cachexia is a frequent syndrome among cancer patients, specially in late stages: the global prevalence of para-neoplastic anorexia-cachexia ranges between 20-40% in the diagnostic stage and between 70-80% in the late stage of the disease. The co-existence of functional or structural digestive abnormalities is frequently observed among cancer patients; this is a consequence of the tumor growth and of those systemic phenomena related to metabolism, which are affected by the relationship tumor-host specific to anorexia- cachexia...

Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare and very aggressive neoplasm that arises from the biliary epithelium, constitutes approximately 2% of all reported cancer, and accounts for about 3% of all gastrointestinal malignancies. Up to date, there are many modalities to diagnosis and treat with a range of sensitivity and specificity, and also the advantage and disadvantage of its modality. As a physician, we should be able to assess and choose promptly which modality is best for our patient, even for paliative care. Treatment modalities are surgery and non-surgery like adjuvant chemotherapy, radiation, chemoradiation, radiotherapy, TACE, 5-FU chemoinfusion, intralesion PEI, photodynamic therapy, liver transplantation, and paliative therapy...
