BACKGROUND: Virtual reality (VR) offers the prospect of a safe and effective adjunct therapeutic modality to promote mental health and reduce distress from symptoms in palliative care patients. Common physiological and psychological symptoms experienced at the end of life may impact the person's participation in day-to-day activities that bring them meaning. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of VR interventions on occupational participation and distress from symptoms...

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, especially biologics and vaccines manufacturing, emphasis on speedy process development can lead to inadequate process development, which often results in less robust commercial manufacturing process after launch. Process performance index (Ppk) is a statistical measurement of the ability of a process to produce output within specification limits over a period of time. In biopharmaceutical manufacturing, progression in process development is based on Critical Quality Attributes meeting their specification limits, lacking insight into the process robustness...

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the application of Dezocine combined with psychological care in the postoperative pain management. METHODS: This is a retrospective study. A total of 186 HFS patients who underwent Microvascular Decompression (MVD) at First People's Hospital of Zunyi between January 2020 and January 2022 were selected as the study subjects. Patients were divided into two groups based on different treatment interventions. The control group (n = 93) received routine perioperative care without preemptive analgesia, while the observation group (n = 93) received preemptive analgesia and combined psychological care on the basis of the control group's intervention...

Overuse of sulfonamides in aquaculture and agriculture leads to residual drugs that cause serious pollution of the environment. However, the residues of sulfonamides in the environment are not unique, and the existing microbial degradation technology has a relatively low degradation rate of sulfonamides. Therefore, in this study, a Pseudomonas stutzeri strain (DLY-21) with the ability to degrade four common SAs was screened and isolated from aerobic compost. Under optimal conditions, the DLY-21 strain degraded four sulfonamides simultaneously within 48 h, and the degradation rates were all over 90%, with the average degradation rates of SAs being sulfoxide (SDM) ≈ sulfachloropyridazine (SCP) > sulfa quinoxaline (SQ) > sulfadiazine (SQ)...

OBJECTIVE: The specific target area of repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in treating neuropathic pain resulting from spinal cord injury (SCI-NP) remains uncertain. METHODS: Thirty-four participants with SCI-NP were allocated into three groups, namely, the motor cortex (M1, A) group, the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (LDLPFC, B) group, and the control (sham stimulation, C) group. The intervention was administered totally 10 times. Outcome measures assessed pre-(T0) and post-(T1)intervention, including Numerical Rating scale (NRS), anxiety (SAS), depression (SDS), sleep quality (PSQI), brief pain inventory (BPI), and impression of change...

Second-generation androgen receptor (AR) signaling inhibitors (ARSIs), such as abiraterone and enzalutamide, prolong the life of patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). However, patients receiving ARSIs ultimately develop resistance through various complex mechanisms, including AR mutations, constitutively active AR-splice variants (AR-Vs), and AR overexpression. Here, we characterized a novel AR pure antagonist, TAS3681, which inhibits AR transcriptional activity and downregulates AR-full length (AR-FL) and AR-Vs...

BACKGROUND: In comparison to primary reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) procedures, revision arthroplasty can be a longer and more complex procedure leading to an increased risk of complications. The reported rates of infection in primary RSA range from 1% to 19% and the cost impact on patients and healthcare systems is significant, leading to multiple revision surgeries. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the postoperative outcomes, complications, and revision rates for revision reverse shoulder arthroplasty (rRSA) due to infection compared to rRSA for non-infectious causes...

Neurotoxicity is a common side effect of certain types of therapeutic drugs, posing a major hurdle for their clinical application. Accumulating evidence suggests that ferroptosis is involved in the neurotoxicity induced by these drugs. Therefore, targeting ferroptosis is considered to be a reasonable approach to prevent such side effect.
