Apolipoprotein AI (apoAI) expression is inversely related to the incidence of atherosclerosis. ApoAI expression is also influenced by the nutritional state and diabetes. We used both cell culture and animal models to examine the effect of fasting and ketoacidosis on apoAI gene expression.
