The present study has demonstrated that the children suffering from chronic post-traumatic knee-joint synovitis after arthroscopy develop an aseptic inflammatory process in the joints associated with the disturbances of local microcirculation, manifestations of sclerosis and fibrosis in the articular soft tissues. An algorithm for the treatment of synovitis in the postoperative period with the use of galvanic muds has been developed. The estimation of the clinical efficacy of this physiotherapeutic method was performed based on the results of routine medical examination, dynamic ultrasound investigation, and dynamic computed termography...

The autor deals with termography as a modern diagnostic tool from the viewpoint of physical regularities, the major historical events relating to infrared radiation and the ways of its detection. On the basic of physical regularities and historical knowledge he presents the application of thermography also in medicine. He describes the basic thermodynamic regularities and processes taking place in the human body and the possibilities of their detection by infrared camera. In details he deals with orthopaedic diseases the reaction of which on the termic regimen of the body can be monitored by termography...

Stroke is the second cause of mortality in industrialized countries. Atherosclerotic plaque rupture with atheromatous debris distal embolization is the pathogenetic mechanism responsible for cerebrovascular events due to atherosclerotic carotid disease. Plaque composition rather than lesion burden seems to be the determinant factor producing rupture and subsequent thrombosis. Histologic features of vulnerability are : a large lipid core, a thin fibrous cap, and an inflammatory infiltrate rich of monocytes and macrophages...

The paper analyses the effect of mild gravitational overload (MGO) produced by patient's centrifugation in short-radius centrifuge in cranio-sacral orientation (+Gz) as a part of combined therapy for lower limb arteriosclerosis obliterans. Total 211 patients with I-II grade disease were divided into 3 groups: the first group (59 patients) was treated only by MGO, the second (100 patients) received both MGO and conventional conservative therapy, the third control group (52 patients) underwent conventional therapy only...

We report a 56 years old male patient presenting with a sympathetic denervation of the right upper limb due to an apical lung cancer. Vasomotor paralysis of the limb was objectively documented with a contact termography. The clinical presentation of this patient was unusual, considering that the alteration occurred without sensory or motor changes of the limb or autonomic disturbances of the face. The absence of clinical and neurophysiological involvement of large and small caliber fibres of the brachial plexus and the lack of autonomic dysfunction of the face was explained by a predominant tumoral infiltration of T2 and T4 ventral roots, which supply autonomic innervation to the upper limbs...

The results of early diagnosis of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis in 329 children were analysed, causes of diagnostic errors and late hospitalization studied. A comparative assessment of diagnostic potentialities of liquid crystal termography (142 cases), osteotonometry and cytologic of a punctate of medullar cavity (89), osteomedullography (65), intraosseous thermometry (75) and roentgenography of the bones. Use of liquid crystal thermography permitted to establish location and spreading of the inflammatory process in a bone at the first day of the disease, to control the effectiveness of treatment, to predict its course and outcome...

Cytologic grading which may be performed at the same time as diagnostic cytology seems to be of a value in the pathobiology of the breast cancer. Other methods, such as mammography, termography, xenography, histological grading and some biological markers help to establish biological behavior of the tumor and appropriate treatment approach. In spite of the progress in diagnosis and therapy many problems remain to be clarified. In agreement with VORHERR a progress may be expected only from the development of novel approaches such as diagnosis before systematic spread has occurred or by the availability of efficient chemotherapy to kill all disseminated cancer cells...

Patterns of red blood cell hemostasis and microcirculation changes are analysed in 115 chronic coronary patients in the course of purposeful medication and at extracorporeal carbohemoperfusion. Differences in the mechanisms of action of trental, phosphaden and essentiale are identified by means of television capillaroscopy, termography, scanning electron microscopy; the mechanism of the antianginal effect of extracorporeal carbohemoperfusion is specified. A considerable disaggregating effect associated with trental and phosphaden, as well as an essentiale-associated improvement in red blood cell morphology and membrane permeability were demonstrated...

The results of a further trial of a clinical dianostic index (CDI) for ill-defined mammary nodules, based on the algebrical results of positive numerical values (for a suspect feature), or negative numerical values (for non suspect feature), attributed to 10 characteristic semeiological features, previously described, are reported. 222 nodules were clinically examined, all subsequently subjected to mammography and 188 of them to thermography; they were then operated and examined histologically. Of 106 malignant nodules the accuracy of the CDI was 88...
