This retrospective study evaluated a commercial deep learning (DL) software for chest radiographs and explored its performance in different scenarios. A total of 477 patients (284 male, 193 female, mean age 61.4 (44.7-78.1) years) were included. For the reference standard, two radiologists performed independent readings on seven diseases, thus reporting 226 findings in 167 patients. An autonomous DL reading was performed separately and evaluated against the gold standard regarding accuracy, sensitivity and specificity using ROC analysis...

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this clinical study is to obtain evidence for the clinical efficacy of Bu-Shen-Jian-Pi formula (BSJP), a traditional Chinese medicine, used for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a relatively rare, progressive and usually fatal disease possibly associated with alterations in tissue redox status, hypoxia, and muscular injury. BACKGROUND: The active agents in BSJP formula† causing apoptosis, modulation of redox changes, and alterations in the immune status have been studied previously by us using cell cultures...

The importance of written communication between clinicians and patients, especially in the wake of the Supreme Court case of Montgomery vs Lanarkshire, has led to a shift toward patient-centric care in the United Kingdom. This study investigates the use of large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Google Bard in enhancing clinic letters with gold-standard complication profiles, aiming to improve patients' understanding and save clinicians' time in aesthetic plastic surgery. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of LLMs in integrating complication profiles from authoritative sources into clinic letters, thus enhancing patient comprehension and clinician efficiency in aesthetic plastic surgery...

The strength of AI with regards to applied sports research, coaching and athletic performance involve the automation of time-consuming tasks, processing and analysis of large amounts of data, and recognition of complex patterns and relationships. However, it is also essential to be aware of the weaknesses associated with the integration of AI into this field...
