BACKGROUND: Aortic aneurysm (AA) is a pathology with high morbidity and mortality. The management can be expectant, surgical, or through endovascular repair (EVAR). In Latin America the incidence of AA has increased and the analysis of therapeutic options, especially if they are expensive, is fundamental. OBJECTIVE: To analyze available evidence on the effectiveness, safety and coverage policies of the EVAR. METHODOLOGY: Panoramic review in the main bibliographical bases (MEDLINE, LILACS, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, DARE) and generic internet searchers, main health technology assessment (HTA) agencies and health insurance companies...

Objective: To determine the prevalence of aortic aneurysm (AA) in tomographic studies in the population at risk. Methods: An observational, cross-sectional study that consisted in systematically reviewing computed tomographies (CT) of the chest and abdomen was carried out at our institution. These studies were performed for different clinical indications, we selected studies of patients older than 55 years from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2016. Descriptive statistics was completed in the studied population and linear regression model was performed to determine the relationship of AA findings and the patient's age...

OBJECTIVE: to determine the blood flow pattern changes after endovascular treatment of saccular abdominal aortic aneurysm with triple stent. METHODS: we conducted a hemodynamic study of seven Landrace and Large White pigs with saccular aneurysms of the infrarenal abdominal aorta artificially produced according to the technique described. The animals were subjected to triple stenting for endovascular aneurysm. We evaluated the pattern of blood flow by duplex scan before and after stent implantation...
