BACKGROUND: Removable prothodontics are often associated with mechanical troubles in daily use, such as fracture or deformation. These troubles render prostheses unusable and reduce wearers' QOL. Various reinforcements are used to prevent such problems, but consensus on reinforcement has not been reached. OBJECTIVE: This review aimed to summarize the effects of reinforcement, and to propose favorable reinforcement based on material, design, and position in the prostheses...

OBJECTIVE: To explore a crown form classification method for upper central incisor which is more objective and scientific than traditional classification method based on the standardized photography technique. To analyze the relationship between crown form of upper central incisors and papilla filling in periodontally healthy Chinese Han-nationality youth. METHODS: In the study, 180 periodontally healthy Chinese youth ( 75 males, and 105 females ) aged 20-30 (24...

INTRODUCTION: Implants are the latest development in the field of prothodontics, but still not widely used because of its expensive and its lengthier duration. Patients with ideal bone quantity and quality accommodate the conventional implants. The selection of the width of the implants has been widely speculated and the manufacturers have recently launched a series of 'mini' implants of narrower diameter. The long-term success rate of these narrow diameter implants, needs to be assessed...

PURPOSE: This retrospective study assessed implant and prosthodontic treatment outcomes of patients suffering from rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and connective tissue diseases (CTDs). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 22 patients (all women) suffering from autoimmune rheumatic disorders such as isolated RA (n = 16), RA with concomitant CTDs (n = 5), or isolated CTDs (n = 1). Overall, 89 implants were placed for rehabilitations such as single-tooth replacement (n = 8), fixed partial dentures (n = 14), complete dentures (n = 5), and overdentures (n = 2), and were evaluated after a mean of 42...

On prosthodontic treatment with dental implants ,we have refered to crown restorations similar to natural teeth and recostructed so far. Therefore differences between implants and teeth have happened many problems. Especially, for we harmonize occlusion for implant restoration with supporting tissue, superstructure of implant prosthesis, muscles surrounding the jaw and temporomandibular joint, how should we compensate for differences between implants and teeth, and observe occlusal shift and symptom in postoperative progress? It seems that there is little evidence on the relation between implant and occulusion...

The preconditions for university level education on odontotechnology was first set in 1900 with the establishment of the first Odontotechnological Laboratory in the Dental Institute of the Medical Faculty. The first head of the laboratory and the lecturer of the subject was Dr. Lajos Hattyassy who obtained a senior lecturer (private docent) position in the faculty. Both the technical and personal preconditions substantially improved with the opening of the new clinic of Stomatology in 1909. The dental residents could provide comprehensive prothodontic treatment in the dental lab with its 18 working place and also in the auxiliary practical units...

Dental implant has tried at the early stage in 19th century recovering an oral function and esthetics. Technological revolutions in biochemical and new materials have developed on the remarkable change in the dental implants, nowadays we call the three generation therapy for dental implantology. There are many kinds of methods and techniques in dental implants, however a lot of troublesome complication on the process of surgical phase, construction of prothodontics and prognosis of maintenance care. In the proceedings of this symposium, I would like to propose you how to manage the maintenance care for various kind of dental implants through the methodology and case presentations...

Although the orthodontist is constantly aware of the developing third molar and its possible effects on the dentition during and after orthodontic treatment, the relationship between the third molar and the development of malocclusion had not been resolved. To attempt to clarify some of the problems associated with the third molar, an analysis of the factor in fluencing on the dentition and denture frame was performed. In this study, twenty-one adult cases which had no prothodontic correction of the tooth shape and orthodontic treatment with at least three wisdom teeth were used for evaluation of the denture frame structure and occlusion...
