The synthetic retinoid bexarotene (BXT), used in the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), has been associated with central hypothyroidism due to suppression of thyrotropin (TSH) secretion and upregulation of peripheral thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) metabolism.
