In preparation for 90Y radioembolization for hepatic malignancies, hepatic angiography is performed with intra-arterial delivery of 99mTc-macroaggregated albumin (MAA), known as premapping. This initial procedure allows for evaluation of standard/variant hepatic arterial anatomy using MAA as a surrogate marker for the delivery of 90Y to visualize the likely distribution of 90Y. Premapping allows for the assessment of at-risk extrahepatic targets and for the quantification of hepatopulmonary shunting. We present cases where MAA scintigraphic images reveal unusual perfusion patterns in hepatic cancers, treated with 90Y glass microspheres (Therasphere; Boston Scientific, Marlborough, MA)...

Palladium-catalyzed weak chelation-assisted oxidative cross-dehydrogenative coupling of arenes has been accomplished. The use of medicinally important pyridones as the intrinsic directing group, regioselectivity, 2-fold C-H activation, and late-stage modification of bioactive compounds are the important practical features.

Graphene's emergence enables creating chiral metamaterials in helical shapes for terahertz applications, overcoming material limitations. However, practical implementation remains theoretical due to fabrication challenges. This paper introduces a dual-component self-assembly technique that enables creating vertically-aligned continuous monolayer graphene helices at microscale with great flexibility and high controllability. This assembly process not only facilitates the creation of three-dimensional (3D) microstructures, but also positions the 3D structures from a horizontal to a vertical orientation, achieving an aspect ratio (height/width) of approximately 2700...

Size plays a crucial role in chemistry and material science. Subnanometer polyoxometalate (POM) clusters have gained attention in various fields, but their use in thermoelectrics is still limited. To address this issue, we propose the POM clusters as an effective second phase to enhance the thermoelectric properties of Bi0.4 Sb1.6 Te3 . Thanks to their subnanometer size, POM clusters improve electrical transport behavior through the superposition of atomic orbitals and the interfacial scattering effect. Furthermore, their ultrasmall size strongly reduces thermal conductivity...

Current methods for arene hydrogenation generally need either harsh reaction conditions or complex catalyst preparation. Here we describe a mild and convenient protocol that only utilizes commercially available catalysts. Using [Rh(nbd)Cl]2 and Pd/C together as catalysts, arenes bearing various functional groups can be hydrogenated under 1 atm of H2 at room temperature. This arene hydrogenation can also be achieved using catalysts of [Rh(cod)Cl]2 and PtO2 , thus avoiding glovebox manipulations and simplifying the reaction procedure...

BACKGROUND: 7 Tesla (7T) apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps derived from diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) demonstrate improved image quality and spatial resolution over 3 Tesla (3T) ADC maps. However, 7T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) currently suffers from limited clinical unavailability, higher cost, and increased susceptibility to artifacts. PURPOSE: To address these issues, we propose a hybrid CNN-transformer model to synthesize high-resolution 7T ADC maps from multimodal 3T MRI...

The sea cucumber plasmalogen PlsEtn has been shown to be associated with various chronic diseases related to lipid metabolism. However, the mechanism is unclear. Therefore, the present study used the sea cucumber plasmanylcholine PakCho as a structural contrast to PlsEtn and assessed its effect in 8 week high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice. The lipidomic approach based on high-resolution mass spectrometry combined with molecular biology techniques was used to evaluate the mechanism of PlsEtn. The results showed that both PlsEtn and PakCho significantly inhibited an increase in mouse body weight and liver total triglyceride and total cholesterol levels caused by HFD...

Tuning electronic characteristics of metal-ligand bonds based on reaction pathways to achieve efficient catalytic processes has been widely studied and proven to be feasible in homogeneous catalysis, but it is scarcely investigated in heterogeneous catalysis. Herein, we demonstrate the regulation of the electronic configuration of Ir-O bonds in an Ir single-atom catalyst according to the borane activation mechanism. Ir-O bonds in Ir1 /Ni(OH) x are found to be more electron-poor than those in Ir1 /NiO x . Despite the mild solvent-free conditions and ambient temperature, Ir1 /Ni(OH) x exhibits outstanding performance for the hydroboration of alkenes, furnishing the desired alkylboronic esters with a turnover frequency value of ≤3060 h-1 and 99% anti-Markovnikov selectivity, which is significantly better than that of Ir1 /NiO x (42 h-1 )...

The AAPM TG-218 report described the clinical implementation of SPC for Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) pre-treatment verifications, pointing out the need to adjust tolerance limits based on plan complexity. In eukaryotic cells, aerobic energy is produced by mitochondria through oxygen uptake. However, little is known about the early mitochondrial responses to moderate hypobaric hypoxia (MHH) in highly metabolic active tissues. Here, we describe the mitochondrial responses to acute MHH in the heart and skeletal muscle. Rats were randomly allocated into a normoxia control group (n = 10) and a hypoxia group (n = 30), divided into three groups (0, 6, and 24 h post-MHH). The normoxia situation was recapitulated at the University of Granada, at 662 m above sea level...

This study aimed to identify the relevance of multiple qMRI biomarkers for tracking longitudinal changes in CMT1A and to assess correlations between MRI metrics and clinical parameters. METHODS: qMRI was performed in CMT1A patients at 2 time points, a year apart, and various metrics were extracted from 3-dimensional volumes of interest at thigh and leg levels...

Fluorinated arylborane-based Lewis acid catalysts have shown remarkable activity and serve as ideal examples of transition metal-free catalysts for diverse organic transformations. However, their homogeneous nature poses challenges in terms of recyclability and separation from reaction mixtures. This work presents an efficient technique for the heterogenization of boron Lewis acid catalysts by anchoring Piers' borane to allyl-functionalized iron oxide. This catalyst demonstrates excellent activity in the hydrosilylation of imines and the reductive amination of carbonyls using various silanes as reducing agents under mild reaction conditions...
