UNLABELLED: Intussusception is a curious anatomic condition characterized by the invagination of one segment of the gastrointestinal tract into the lumen of an adjacent segment. Once initiated, additional intestinal telescopes into the distal segment, causing the invaginated intestine to propagate distally within the bowel lumen. The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical manifestation, etiology, and outcome of intussuception at atypical ages. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This retrospective study was carried out on patients aged <6 mo or >2 yr with intussusception...

Small bowel intussusceptions are much less common than the ileocolic type, with jejunoileal intussusceptions being amongst the most rare1. We review the literature on small bowel intussuception, using a case of an 11-year-old girl with a jejunoileal intussusception involving the whole of the small bowel, from the level of the duodenojejunal flexure to the ileocaecal valve, as an illustrative history. The typical CT features of an intussusception and value of CT with regard to identification of complications are highlighted...

Assessment of diagnostic value of spatial (3D) CT reconstructions obtained from two dimensional axial sections was performed on the basis of the material of patients with compound fractures of the facial cranium. In correlation with radiograms and axial CT sections fractures of the jaw and jugal bone, especially the mandible, were more distinctly reconstructed. 3D reconstructions were also significantly better in the assessment of rotational displacements of intussuceptional fracture fragments. There has not, however, been shown superiority of 3 D CT in revealing small, simple fissures...
