The aim of this prospective clinical study was to evaluate dimensional changes following immediate placement of a fixed ovate pontic provisional restoration into an intact extraction socket without grafting. The mean buccolingual dimensional change at 1 month was 0.51 ± 0.48 mm and 0.93 ± 0.55 mm at 3 months. The mean incisoapical dimensional change at 1 month was 0.68 mm ± 0.19 mm, and at 3 months, 1.64 ± 1.35 mm. Astyanax anai, a new species of characid fish, is described from the Sixaola River basin, eastern Costa Rica-western Panama, Central America. Identification of grain shape determining genes can facilitate breeding of rice cultivars with optimal grain shape and appearance quality. Here, we identify GS9 (Grain Shape Gene on Chromosome 9) gene by map-based cloning. The gs9 null mutant has slender grains, while overexpression GS9 results in round grains. GS9 encodes a protein without known conserved functional domain. It regulates grain shape by altering cell division.
