Gene expression analysis was carried out in Jurkat cells in order to identify candidate genes showing significant gene expression alterations allowing robust discrimination of the Auger emitter 123I, incorporated into the DNA as 123I-iododeoxyuridine (123IUdR), from α- and γ-radiation. The γ-H2AX foci assay was used to determine equi-effect doses or activity, and gene expression analysis was carried out at similar levels of foci induction. Comparative gene expression analysis was performed employing whole human genome DNA microarrays...

A sustained activation of the unfolded protein response and the subsequent endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress has been involved in the onset and severity of several metabolic diseases. The aim of this study was to analyze the association of DNA methylation signatures at ER stress genes with adiposity traits and related metabolic disorders. An epigenomic analysis within the Methyl Epigenome Network Association (MENA) project was conducted in an adult population (n=474). DNA methylation status in peripheral white blood cells was analyzed by a microarray approach...

The t(10;11)(p12;q14) is a recurring chromosomal translocation that gives rise to the CALM/AF10 fusion gene, which is found in acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia and malignant lymphoma. We analyzed the fusion transcripts in 20 new cases of CALM/AF10-positive leukemias, and compared the gene expression profile of 10 of these to 125 patients with other types of leukemia and 10 normal bone marrow samples. Based on gene set enrichment analyses, the CALM/AF10-positive samples showed significant upregulation of genes involved in chromatin assembly and maintenance and DNA repair process, and downregulation of angiogenesis and cell communication genes...
