A 66-year-old man with history of prostate carcinoma underwent Ga-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen PET/CT for surveillance of rising prostate-specific antigen. Intense tracer uptake was noted in segments 2, 7, and 8 of the liver. The lesions were not FDG avid on F-FDG PET/CT. Further characterization with magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography with Gd-EOB (Primovist) contrast revealed ill-defined arterially enhancing lesions with central washout in the venous phase. CT-guided core biopsy was performed, and histopathology confirmed well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether disodium gadoxetate (Gd-EOB-DTPA) affects proton density fat fractions (PDFFs) during use of the multiecho Dixon (meDixon) method in phantom and simulation magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies at 3 T. Fat-water phantoms comprising vegetable fat-water emulsions with varying fat volume percentages (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 50) and Gd-EOB-DTPA concentrations (0 and 0.4 mM) were prepared. Phantoms without Gd-EOB-DTPA were defined as precontrast, and those with Gd-EOB-DTPA were defined as postcontrast...

Early detection of small hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) lesions can improve long-term patient survival. A systematic review and meta-analysis of the diagnostic performance of gadoxetic acid disodium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI) and multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) was performed in diagnosing small HCCs measuring up to 2 cm(≤2cm). Two investigators searched multiple databases for studies in which the performances of either Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI or MDCT were reported with sufficient data to construct 2 × 2 contingency tables for diagnosing HCCs up to 2 cm on a per-lesion or per-patient level...

Recently, it has been suggested that peritumoral decreased uptake area (PDUA) in the hepatobiliary phase (HBP) of gadoxetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was associated with vascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to investigate correlations between microvascular invasion and PDUA, and elucidate the predictability of PDUA for tumor recurrence after resection. We retrospectively analyzed clinicopathological and radiological data from 126 consecutive patients with single HCC ≤5 cm without macrovascular invasion who underwent preoperative Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI and surgical resection...

INTRODUCTION: [(18)F]Fluoromethylcholine ([(18)F]FCH) is a potent tumors imaging agent. In order to fulfill the demand of pre-clinical and clinical studies, we have developed an automated high yield one-pot synthesis of this potent tumors imaging agent. METHODS: [(18)F]FCH was synthesized using a modified TRACERlab FxFN module. Briefly, dibromomethane (10% in CH3CN) was fluorinated with K[(18)F]/K 2.2.2 in a glassy carbon reaction vessel at 120°C for about 5min to generate [(18)F]fluorobromomethane ([(18)F]FBM)...

It is difficult to characterize the nodular lesions in cirrhotic liver if typical enhancement pattern is not present on dynamic contrast-enhanced imagings. Although the signal intensity of the hepatobiliary phase in gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is helpful for characterization of the lesions, some dysplastic nodules may also exhibit low signal intensity in the hepatobiliary phase. We aimed to assess the usefulness of gadoxetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-enhanced MRI including diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for differentiation between atypical small hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) and dysplastic nodules showing low signal intensity (SI) in the hepatobiliary phase, and to evaluate the MRI findings in determining the histological grade of atypical HCCs in patients with cirrhosis...
