Rhopalosiphum padi is a global pest that poses a significant threat to wheat crops and has developed resistance to various insecticides. G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), known for their crucial role in signaling and biological processes across insect species, have recently gained attention as a potential target for insecticides. GPCR has the potential to contribute to insect resistance through the regulation of P450 gene expression. However, GPCRs in R. padi remained unexplored until this study. We identified a total of 102 GPCRs in R...

In this study, we synthesized two haptens similar in structure to nitrofen (NIT), and screened out five monoclonal antibodies with the ability to recognize NIT and bifenox (BIF) by competitive ELISA, with the lowest IC50 values of 0.87 ng mL-1 and 0.86 ng mL-1 , respectively. The antibody 5G7 was selected to be combined with colloidal gold to establish a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay strip. This method was shown to qualitatively and quantitatively detect the residues of NIT and BIF in fruit samples...

This retrospective chart review study explored the etiology, use, and yield of the etiological investigations of 651 children and adolescents diagnosed with borderline intellectual functioning (BIF). Neurological, neurodevelopmental, or neuropsychiatric comorbidities were frequent, and in 23%, the BIF diagnosis evolved into an intellectual disability (ID) by the time of discharge. A primary etiological cause was found in 37.6%, the most prevalent causes being pre- or perinatal conditions, genetic syndromes/chromosomal abnormalities, fetal exposure to maternal substance use, cerebral dysgenesis, and neurological diseases...

BACKGROUND: To describe the outcomes of the endovascular reconstruction of TASC C/D lesions involving the infrarenal aorta and aortic bifurcation with different techniques. METHODS: This is an observational, retrospective, single-center study. In a 5-year period, we selected all the patients treated with an endovascular procedure for an aorto-iliac TASC C/D lesion involving the infrarenal aorta and/or the aortic bifurcation. Early (<30 days) outcomes were mortality, major amputation, and thrombosis...

OBJECTIVE: Magnetic resonance often produces feelings of anxiety before, or during, the examination. The aim of this study was to assess anxiety and potential causes of anxiety in cancer patients undergoing whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WB-MRI). METHODS: This monocentric study recruited 70 cancer patients who were scheduled to undergo WB-MRI for detection, staging or therapy monitoring. At baseline (prior to the WB-MRI), assessments were performed using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-Y 1), Illness Perception Questionnaire (IPQ-R), Big Five Inventory (BIF-10) and Revised Life Orientation Test (LOT-R), while at the end of the WB-MRI examination the patients repeated the STAI-Y 1 questionnaire and were asked to indicate their preference between WB-MRI and computed tomography...

The rapid and sensitive detection of pathogenic bacteria is highly demanded for early warning of infectious disease epidemics and protection of human health. Herein, a reusable and universal impedimetric sensing platform based on a bacteria-imprinted polythiophene film (BIF) is proposed for the rapid and sensitive detection of pathogenic bacteria using Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus ) as a model analyte. Monomer screening among four 3-substituted thiophenes was first performed based on the imprinting factor, and 3-thiopheneethanol (TE) was eventually selected...

In this work, separation and recovery of gallium from aqueous solutions was examined using acid-base bifunctional ionic liquids (Bif-ILs) in both solvent extraction and supported liquid membrane (SLM) processes. The influence of a variety of parameters, such as feed acidity, extractant concentration and metal concentration on the solvent extraction behavior were evaluated. The slope method combined with FTIR spectroscopy was utilized to determine possible extraction mechanisms. The SLM containing Bif-ILs demonstrated highly selective facilitated transport of 96...

Phenotypic records for adjusted weight at 210 and 450 days of age were utilized. A total of 945 animals were genotyped with high-density chip, and 267 individuals born after 2008 were selected as validation population. The Message-Based Impression Formation effect (M-BIF) suggests that perceivers use features of messages to infer characteristics of the source, and that such inferences may have a variety of consequential outcomes. In particular, the choice of narrative versus statistical evidence may have implications for the perceived warmth and competence of a source...

The surface crust that caps highly weathered banded iron formations (BIFs) supports a unique ecosystem that is a post-mining restoration priority in iron ore areas. Geochemical evidence indicates that biological processes drive the dissolution of iron oxide minerals and contribute to the ongoing evolution of this duricrust. However, limited information is available on present-day biogeochemical processes in these systems, particularly those that contribute to the precipitation of iron oxides and, thus, the cementation and stabilization of duricrusts...

A mutant line, bifurcate flower truss (bif), was recovered from a tomato genetics programme. Plants from the control line produced a mean of 0.16 branches per truss, whereas the value for bif plants was 4.1. This increase in branching was accompanied by a 3.3-fold increase in flower number and showed a significant interaction with exposure to low temperature during truss development. The control line and bif genomes were resequenced and the bif gene was mapped to a 2.01 Mbp interval on chromosome 12; all coding region polymorphisms in the interval were surveyed, and five candidate genes displaying altered protein sequences were detected...
