Increasing demand for shortening the sequel period after aesthetic surgery has led to comparative testing of optional approaches. Systemic enzyme therapy with its pharmacological effects represents a preventive and curative option for inflammatory process including healing. Hemocoagulation was studied in 78 patients with diabetes mellitus during the treatment of diabetic retinopathy with antiaggregating and hemostatic drugs. Trental and acetylsalicylic acid decrease an elevated aggregating activity of the blood platelets, improve hemocoagulation indices, accompanied by stabilization of the retinal pathologic process. The combined dicynone-acetylsalicylic acid treatment is recommended in a raised coagulating activity of the blood.

The rate of aqueous humor production (measured by the clearance of 125I-labeled albumin administered into the anterior chamber) and the intraocular pressure (measured via an electronic transducer) fell after subconjunctival infection of 37 mg (0.3 ml) of etamsylate (Dicynone) in rabbits. The differences between treated and untreated animals with respect to both variables were statistically significant.
