Present study, was an effort to scrutinize the molecular and biochemical role of ibuprofen and thiamine combination in diethylnitrosamine (DEN)-induced HCC in Wistar rats. Single intraperitoneal injection of DEN (200 mg/kg) was used for induction of HCC in rats. The rats were divided into eight various groups. DEN induced rats were treated with pure ibuprofen (40 mg/kg) and thiamine in combination for the period of 12th weeks. The protocol was terminated after the 16th week. Exposure of DEN up-regulated the levels of different serum biochemical parameters, antioxidant enzyme level, Alfa-fetoprotein (AFP) and reduced the level of High density lipoprotein (HDL) in Wistar rats along with the alteration in pro-inflammatory cytokines viz...

Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by progressive destruction of articular cartilage, resulting in significant disability. Inflammatory cytokines commonly initiate the extreme changes in the synovium and cartilage microenvironment of the OA patients, subsequently resulting in cell dysfunctions, especially synoviocyte dysfunction. We revealed that the expression of osteopontin (OPN), which has been reported to regulate expression of various inflammatory factors associating with the pathogenesis of OA including matrix metalloprotease 13 (MMP13), interlukine-6 and 8 (IL-6 and IL-8), is significantly upregulated in OA tissues...

Post-operative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is associated with morbidity, mortality and increased cost of medical care. However, the neuropathogenesis and targeted interventions of POCD remain largely to be determined. We have found that the peripheral surgical wounding induces an age-dependent Aβ accumulation, neuroinflammation and cognitive impairment in aged mice. Pro-inflammatory cytokine interlukin-6 (IL-6) has been reported to be associated with cognitive impairment in rodents and humans. However, the role of IL-6 in the neuropathogenesis of POCD is unknown...

Asthma is a heterogeneous disease characterized by chronic airway inflammation. CD4(+) T-helper 9 (Th9) cells are closely linked to asthma, helping to regulate inflammation and immunity. Epidemiological studies showed that mycobacteria infections are negatively associated with asthma. Our previous research showed that inactivated Mycobacterium phlei nebulization alleviated the airway hyperresponsiveness and inflammation of asthma. However, the relationship between Th9 cells and mycobacteria remains unknown...

Interlukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine produced by several cell types that has a role in fibrosis. Fibroblasts (FBs) maintain this underlying pathogenic change through regulation of IL-6 production; however, its potential functional role in regulating surrounding cellular structural changes during ischemic myocardial remodeling remains unexplored. Here, we generated FBs, cardiomyocytes (CMs), and blood vascular endothelial cells (ECs) from the ventricles of neonatal rats. IL-6 was then overexpressed in FBs and the cells were treated with IL-6 receptor inhibitor (IL6RI), TGF-β1 receptor inhibitor (TβRI), or MMP2/MMP9 inhibitor (MMPI) using monoculture or coculture models under hypoxic conditions...
