Few studies have explored the association between circulatory system diseases (CSDs) and provincial socioeconomic and environmental factors from spatial perspective, although large literature have focused on CSD. The numbers of death of hypertension disease (HD), ischemic heart disease (IHD), and cerebrovascular disease (CVD) are investigated, and 14 representative socioeconomic and environmental factors are collected. Stepwise regression model (SRM) and geographically weighted regression model (GWRM) are applied to determine the spatial correlation between the number of death of those diseases and selected factors...

Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) at times complicates monochorionic twin gestations, resulting in conditions ranging from discordant sizes to fetal demise of one baby. Various types of cardiac defects have been described in the recipient twin of this syndrome. Isolated great artery calcification, i.e. aortic and pulmonary artery calcification is one such uncommon condition associated with TTTS. Calcification of the walls of great vessels may be due to chronic vascular injury sustained as a result of circulatory volume overload in the recipient twin...

Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) complicates 10% of monochorionic twin pregnancies and it is consequence of an unbalanced exchange blood through the vascular anastomoses at placental surface. If not treated, mortality rates in TTTS may be as high as 80-100%. Laser photocoagulation of the placental anastomoses is the first treatment option; however, in some situations, the damage of the placenta in the postpartum may become difficult the residual anastomoses identification. We propose a new non-invasive technique to assess the residual anastomoses using computed tomography (CT) scan data to generate a three-dimensional (3D) virtual placentoscopy...

The early diagnosis of the Twin-To-Twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) carries benefits of the better survivor for the fetus-donor; but at the same time there are obvious practical impediments to diagnose the condition earlier in the course of a pregnancy. That's why this particular problem in practical medicine requires in depth investigation to clarify casual factors, and specify tactical approach to the prospective patients which in turn will lead to prevention of the fetal death and damage and improvement of fetal survivor in any form of TTTS...

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Twin pregnancy with monochorionic placenta may be associated with arteriovenous vascular anastomosis of the placental vessels resulting in twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and twin reversed arterial perfusion syndrome (TRAP). Foetoscopic LASER ablation (FLA) is the treatment of choice in reducing foetal mortality related to this. METHODS: A retrospective review of medical records of 41 FLA procedures for TTTS and TRAP were analysed for anaesthetic management...

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of intrauterine environment on the magnitude of intrapair differences in six somatic traits of monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) twins (1,263 pairs; 424 MZ twins and 839 DZ twins). Differences in intrauterine environments of MZ twins enforced division of the research material into four groups: (1) MZ-MC-TTTS - MZ twins from monochorionic (MC) pregnancies with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), (2) MZ-MC (without TTTS)-MZ twins from MC pregnancies without TTTS, (3) MZ-DC-MZ twins from dichorionic (DC) pregnancies, and (4) DZ-DZ twins...

INTRODUCTION: Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is the major cause for fetal demise in monochorionic diamniotic pregnancies. Estimated combined cardiac output (CCO) has not been studied in this setting. The primary aims of this study were to compare CCO in twin donor and recipient fetuses and assess differences in CCO before and after laser coagulation therapy. A secondary aim was to evaluate the relationship of CCO with perinatal mortality, defined as intrauterine or neonatal mortality (≤30 days of age) in fetuses that underwent laser coagulation therapy...

Twin anemia polycythemia sequence (TAPS) is defined by significant intertwin hemoglobin discordance without the amniotic fluid discordance that characterizes twin-twin-transfusion syndrome (TTTS) in monochorionic twin pregnancies. TAPS is an uncommon condition which can either occur spontaneously, or following fetoscopic laser ablation for TTTS. This complication is thought to result from chronic transfusion through very small placental anastomoses; however, the pathogenesis of TAPS remains unknown. Consequently, there is no consensus in the management of TAPS...
