Intestinal obstruction due to congenital intestinal malrotation is usually diagnosed in neonates but may, in rare cases, occur during pregnancy. The absence of specific symptoms in combination with its low incidence makes timely detection of intestinal malrotation-related obstruction difficult in expectant mothers. We present a rare case of a 23-year-old woman with a twin pregnancy following in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) who presented with symptoms of intestinal obstruction at 22+4 weeks of gestation...

Poor ovarian response (POR) observed in controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) is often observed during in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) cycles and is a major problem. A POR has been found to be related to several factors, including advanced age, high body mass index, and history of ovarian or pelvic surgery. However, it is difficult to predict POR, as there are no specific biomarkers known. In this study, we used quantitative proteomic analyses to investigate potential biomarkers that can predict poor response during IVF based on follicular fluid samples...

The incidence of ectopic pregnancy after assisted reproductive technology is increased approximately 2.5-5-fold compared with natural conceptions.Strategies were used to decrease the incidence of ectopic pregnancy, but ectopic pregnancy still occurs. In the present study, women were selected with decreased ovarian reserve (defined as FSH > 10 IU/L) aged 20 to 38 years who underwent IVF-ET between 2009 and 2014. These 2,061 women were age-matched with an equal number of women with normal ovarian reserve (defined as FSH ≤ 10 IU/L)...

Triclosan (TCS) exists ubiquitously in the environment. Several in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated that TCS exerts endocrine disruptive effects on reproduction, but data from human populations are limited and conflicting. The objective of our study was to investigate whether high urinary TCS concentration is adversely associated with early reproductive outcomes in women undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET). This prospective cohort study was conducted from September 2015 to June 2016, including 156 infertile women undergoing their first IVF-ET cycle...

BACKGROUND: Although pregnancy rate in in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) cycles has been increased over the preceding years, but the majority of IVF-ET cycles still fail. Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (GCSF) is a glycoprotein that stimulates cytokine growth factor and induces immune system which may improve pregnancy rate in women with history of implantation failure. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate GCSF ability to improve pregnancy rate in women with history of implantation failure...

To evaluate the efficency and safety of laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of interstitial heterotopic pregnancy (IHP) after IVF-ET, five patients with interstitial heterotopic pregnancy after IVF-ET treated by laparoscopy in our hospital from Jan. 2012 to Jan. 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. All operations were finished laparoscopically without any major complications and they successfully delivered. The results suggest that laparosccpic surgery is feasible and safe for IHP to maintain the trauterine pregnancy, and it can diagnose and treat IHP at early stage, which cause mininmal injuries and less disturbance to trauterine pregnancy and ensure rapid recovery...

Ovarian endometriomas affect 17 to 44% of women with endometriosis, and are often associated with pelvic pain and infertility. Treatment options include expectant management, medical and/or surgical treatment, and in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET). The choice of treatment depends mostly on the associated symptoms. In most cases, surgery is the preferred choice, since endometriomas do not respond to medical treatment, which may only treat associated pain. In case of infertility, IVF-ET may be a suitable alternative to surgery, particularly when there is no associated pain...

BACKGROUND: Cell-free DNA is a DNA fragment that is produced by cell apoptosis which can affect the micro-environment of cell apoptosis. The levels of Cell-free DNA have been associated with successful rate of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) and embryonic development. Our aim is to determine the relationship between cell-free DNA and embryo quality. The mechanisms of cell-free DNA in granulose and the apoptosis will be determined also. METHODS: The study enrolled patients who were undergone IVF for the first time and grouped the patients as pregnant (n=130) and non-pregnant (n=59)...

BACKGROUND: Anomalous levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion result in a variety of reproductive phenotypes associated with infertility or subfertility. The normosmic isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (nIHH) is due to a failure of either GnRH pulsatile secretion in hypothalamus or its reception in pituitary. The spectrum of nIHH-associated alterations continues to expand, especially when additional ethnic populations are investigated. The aim of this study was to uncover genetic causes for nIHH in patients of Russian origin...

The impact of acupuncture for the pregnancy of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) is discussed in the paper. Nowadays there are various conclusions about the impact of acupuncture for IVF-ET, and it may result from the differences in research designs. The effect is closely related to the demographic and clinical characteristics of subjects, such as age, the diagnosis of barrenness, blood flow index of uterine spiral arteries, the cycle of IVF, etc. Besides, the efficacy is influenced by treatment based on syndrome differentiation or not, the frequency and course of acupuncture in both the treating group and the control group, etc...
